The Adventures of Fripp

 So no walks down the beach in the mornings since the incident on Monday. This morning we had a lie in which I quite liked. I had a quick wee in the garden and then went back to sleep. We didn’t go out until 8.30 and guess where we went…my favourite place, Southwick Hill…result!  Note to self, I must have incidents more often. After the Hill we went to the garden centre and I wee’d up one of the summerhouses on the way in. I don’t think Nix noticed as she didn’t say anything but she did pick up speed 🤔 This afternoon we have been down the beach but I had to stay on my lead. I wanted to trot the whole way so Nix had to keep up and got stitch on the way back. I’ll be off that lead in no time 🤣 I’ve been playing with my giraffe since we got home and barking a lot and being generally annoying…apparently 🤣 Today is my dog father Rog’s funeral so Nix is a bit sad. It’s only family so all his friends are going to have a big celebration of his life later on in the year. One of their friends

 We went out at 6am for our first walk this morning. This was Nix’s fault because she woke me up with her coughing. She said she was dreaming that she was in a really important meeting and she got a tickly throat and couldn’t stop coughing. Then she woke up and realised she did have a really tickly throat and really was coughing. As you know I do not like it when she coughs especially if it wakes me up. It does not scare me as Nix tries to make out, it’s just annoying. Anyway once I was awake I wanted to go to the toilet so Nix let me out in the garden and went back to bed. I found my way into the undergrowth and had a good old dig. That was funny because Nix couldn’t shout at me at that time in the morning and she couldn’t come out because she’d put her dressing gown in the wash so she tried hissing at me. I did come in finally but then I went into the shower and started to dig up her expensive slip proof shower tray. Honestly she’s got quite a sharp tongue on her when she wants. Anyw

 The day has not started well, what can I say, it definitely wasn’t my fault. We were on our way back along the beach this morning when I was suddenly confronted with the brown curly job. I must be losing my touch because I usually know he’s around from a long way off. We had a really bad scrap which of course I got the blame for even though it wasn’t my fault. Neither of us got bitten so I really don’t know what all the fuss is about but suffice it to say that Nix took it really badly. She said she’s getting too old for all this and that I’d made her shake. I feel a bit bad because when we got home she cried a bit. I tried to comfort her but she’s didn’t want to know. She went off to get her photo taken for her bus pass and apparently she looks like an axe murderer.  She’s in an even worse mood now…actually she does look like an axe murderer 🤣 From what I can make out the trip to Tesco didn’t go much better.  Well it’s a bit miserable today isn’t it, keeps raining and it’s meant to be summer. I stayed on my own this morning when Nix went to church but I don’t go to sleep now, I like to be on my guard so when Nix’s car pulls up on the drive I can jump up and look out of the window. She always waves at me, I like that. I went to bed as soon as she got back and slept for a long time. Nix says now I’m 11 1/2 I will probably sleep longer. I don’t feel 11 1/2 but I must admit I do get more tired than I used to. We’ve met lots of people who think I’m a puppy and Nix always takes the credit, says it’s the turkey mince she makes me. Hate to admit it but she might be right you know.  When I finally woke up Nix said we should go out soon  because it was going to rain later and the sooner we got out the better.  We got right to the top of Southwick Hill and the heavens opened.  I’ve been to my first concert today, it was a fundraiser for our church and I must admit, once I’d gone to sleep I really enjoyed it. As you know I don’t like music in the street and so Nix was expecting the worst. As soon as the clapping started I wanted to go home but Nix was quite bossy with me. She said I was being neurotic and it wasn’t very loud and I was to sit down. I must admit once I sat down I felt quite tired because we’d had a long walk before the concert started and I did nearly doze off. There was Pimms and strawberries and cream in the interval so I got some cream when we got back to our seat. We had to take our own chair and Nix had taken a cushion too but lost it immediately we got there. It was only when we got home and she watched the video back she could see it on the next chair which is where she’d put it in the first place.   Well it’s been a funny old day today. We had a very early walk on the beach because Nix does her Zoom thingie first thing. Once the Zoomimg was over I got to go out again because Nix was going to the hairdressers a bit later. I didn’t really sleep while Nix was away so when she got home I was very tired and went for a long sleep. I prefer to sleep when I know Nix is in the next room.  This afternoon we have been to Worthing to check out the shops. I of course got a lot of attention and Nix was complimented on how handsome I looked as if she had anything to do with it. I got a lot of fuss and met a lot of dogs. There was almost an incident with a Labrador but Nix saw it before I did…damn. Nix was telling the ladies who were admiring me that it was a close shave as I couldn’t be trusted around Labradors. They were all of the opinion that it would not have been a good thing because the Labrador was guiding a blind person 🤭 You will notice there is no posing today, this is because Nix f

 I got an extra walk this morning after we got back from the beach. Nix got a text to say her shoes were being delivered between 12 and 2 and she knew I wouldn’t want to wait until 2pm so I got a quick walk down by the river. Nix said she’d rather do the extra walk than have to put up with me glaring at her…suits me 🤣 I bumped into a parked car on the way back, that was a bit annoying. Otto the black Labrador was on the other side of the road and I was doing my glare and probably not really looking where I was going. It only hurt a bit and Nix said it served me right…she’s a cruel woman… Anyway, apparently I am getting too big for my boots which I think might be a good thing? Actually thinking about it, I don’t have any boots so Nix is talking gobbledygook as usual 🙄 This is all because I got too far ahead on the Hill and wouldn’t wait for her. Yelling, “Wait” at the top of her voice was never going to solve anything, yelling it three or four times is just going to make her look stup

 I think Nix has got a bit used to all this rain and she’s taken to dozing on the sofa in the afternoon when I should be out on my walk. There was no excuse today as the rain had finally stopped but I’ve had to work really hard to get my walk. I stared at her until she woke up and then started doing my growling thing which I’m still perfecting. It’s meant to be a sign that if she doesn’t get up and take me out I’ll start barking…a lot. After complaining that it would be too muddy or too cold or too windy she finally got herself up and off we went.  I was expecting at the very least to get a walk down the river but I’ve had to make do with the local park. I was so excited to see grass that I ran right across the park from one side to the other and as you know I don’t normally do running. There is lots of long grass now so the bees and things can have a good time too and there was also a lovely pile of something disgustingly fabulous which made me want to roll in it.   We haven’t really been anywhere today, well when I say we haven’t been anywhere I suppose we have been a few places. It has been raining all day so I had to put up with Nix moaning a lot. She knows that the rain is going to run off the bottom of her waterproof jacket and onto her trousers so why doesn’t she just put on her waterproof trousers too…because she’s too lazy 🙄 The water runs off my waterproof jacket too and onto my legs but you don’t hear me complaining do you. On top of getting very wet, apparently ‘freedom day’ has been cancelled again so no night clubbing for Nix, not that she goes to night clubs anyway. To be honest her life hasn’t changed that much since the virus thingy started, it’s always been just the two of us and I like it that way 🥰 The rest of the day has centred around the subject of sport. Apparently it’s the only thing on TV and all her favourite programmes have been cancelled…she’s not happy. She’s just discovered though that all of this weeks Coronation

 I stayed on my own again this morning while Nix went to church. I don’t mind at all once she’s gone and I have a little sleep. I don’t like the bit where she leaves and I try and escape through the front door. She says she used to be like that when her mum left her at the school gates. One day she chased after her and caught up just as her mum was getting on the bus. I’d like to do that but Nix says she was only five when she did that and I’m old enough to know better. Apparently there was more singing outside the church this morning. They were allowed to take their face masks off as long as they kept their distance…I think it might have been best for Nix to have kept hers on…drown out the sound a bit 🤣 This afternoon we have been to the Hill and I saw the horses. I am very well behaved with them because they don’t go that fast.  It’s finally stopped raining and we got a walk to the beach this morning. Bear couldn’t come with us today so we did it alone but I didn’t mind because I found a dead fish to keep me occupied. Nix doesn’t even try and get them off me now, she just says not to blame her when I’m sick which I never am 🤣 We had to wait in for the Amazon man which was a bit boring because I was ready to go out almost as soon as I got home. I was very good though as I was promised an ice cream if I had an extra sleep before we went. I actually got two extra sleeps because he took quite a long time to arrive.   We stopped of at the church to look at the new wall hanging. Nix has her mum’s name on there…Nora Winifred. I thought that was nice and I should have liked to have met her. Apparently when Nix’s mum married Nix’s dad he said, “I marry thee Wora Ninifred’ and Nix’s mum said they probably weren’t actually married 🤣 I think that’s very funny, apparently Nix’s mum told the story a lot 🤣 We then went o

 Last night was not good, the skies were very noisy and I didn’t like it, I was very scared 😕 The thing is I used to shake in a corner when the skies made the horrible noises but now I try to dig the floor up. I don’t know why I do it but Nix gets very fed up. She says I am ruining her floors but what can I do, I need to do it, it makes me feel better. Eventually Nix put my collar and lead on and bribed me onto the bed with treats and then she wouldn’t let me get down again. I had no option but to land on top of her for comfort which made her scream…a lot. I think she was laughing but I’m not sure. I have a special thunder shirt for these occasions but Nix couldn’t remember where she’d put it…typical. Eventually things quietened down and we fell asleep together. I think it might have been quite late because Nix didn’t wake up this morning for our dog walk and we were very late. This afternoon we have a visit from Honey the Cavapoo.  I am pooped as they say somewhere or other. We had a walk to the old fort this morning and when we got back I went into the garden to have my morning sleep. Nix woke me up again after half hour to go and meet Scruffy and whilst this was very exciting, I was a bit tired.  Nix started panicking (of course) about whether it would be too much for me. It’s never too much for me, I can walk all day, it’s Nix, she’s getting on a bit so I have to take that into account.  There is no excuse however for taking absolutely no photos of moi…nil! Thank goodness Debbie was there with her phone so we could record the event. The best one is of Nix trying to walk on the slippy stones without falling over…Scruff and I followed close behind just in case. She walked out for miles and miles and still the water was only up to her ankles…she gave up in the end. That is no excuse however for arriving back home and dumping me in the garden while she went down to our beach where the tide was just right for Nix…

 Honestly Nix only has to sit on the sofa in the afternoons and that’s it, she’s out for the count. This my friends accounts for the tardiness of my blog. She’ll say it’s because she’s walked so far with me but that’s not really true today because it’s too hot and we haven’t been that far.  When I say we haven’t been that far I suppose we have had lots of little walks which do mount up I suppose. First walk of the day was my favourite because I found a yummy piece of fish.  Speaking of being hot Nix has bought a parasol for the garden. It was a bit nerve wracking watching her trying to put it together because it is quite heavy and there were very nearly consequences. You have to give Nix her due, she’s a tryer but she really does have to stop saying, “Yes…who needs a man…” every time she completes a task! She will say she’s bought it for moi of course but that’s not entirely true. Granted I do like to be comfortable when I sleep in the garden and true, there were no shady places for me
