The Adventures of Fripp

 Now you may not know this but I only ever do two poos in the morning. This is unless Nix only takes out two poo bags in which case I do three 🙂  Yesterday was busy but Nix wanted to start getting my new step together. While she was struggling to get the foam in guess what, I just jumped up on the sofa. I should say that I can’t usually do this as I am a bit stiff but yesterday I felt very fluid and I knew it would annoy Nix 🤣 Rita came over in the evening and Nix set off to meet Kay who gave us the foam and they went off to the Lent course together. They had to walk over the footbridge into town to the vicarage and it made Nix realise she doesn’t really go out without me after dark, she said it felt a bit weird. I sat with Rita for quite a long time (on the floor) and then I went to bed. I didn’t hear Nix come home because my hearing isn’t brilliant but she came and woke me up and I was very happy to see her.  This morning we had the café and our friend Trish came too ...

 It was very cold in the spare bedroom last night. Nix likes to get up in the middle of the night to have a wee and they say I have a weak bladder. Anyway last night it was apparently freezing. The bed in there is further away from the French doors so it should be warmer but apparently not. I’ve still got two of my beds in the main bedroom so I spent the night in there in my donut bed. When I say I spent the night in there that would be when I wasn’t in the bathroom digging. I haven’t done that for ages, not sure what came over me but I was warned after the third go that I would be made to stay in the cold bedroom with Nix with the door closed. After that I curled up in one of my favourite donut beds in the proper bedroom and went to sleep. I don’t like all this moving bedrooms, it makes me feel insecure.  I woke Nix up early so we could get a good walk in before Kay was visiting with the foam for my steps.   It’s very cold today and a bit drizzly so I have been wearing my coat each time we’ve been out. This morning the boardwalk was very frosty and there was a cold wind. Nix doesn’t like it, I don’t mind as I have my fleecy waterproof coat on. Thinking about it Nix should probably be buying fleecy waterproof coats instead of new dresses. The new dress by the way got it’s first outing to church. There were no jeans underneath thankfully and a half decent pair of boots though a pair of tights might not have gone amiss, it is still winter after all 🙄 As regards my new step that Sara made the cover for I am pleased to announce that we have some boxes arriving tomorrow which will be a perfect fit. Best of all is that Kay, Nix’s friend in church came over to say that they have some foam rubber in their garage which we can have…it’s a good job she reads my blog 🙂 Nix thinks this will be much better than the mattress topper and I can’t wait to use my new step.  Guess what, today it is 11 years since I came to live with Nix.  I lived in Monaco for the first two years of my life but I was left on my own during the day and I didn’t like it. That’s when I went back to my breeder in the south of France and she found me my new home with Nix. I came in a van through the tunnel and Nix met me there. I tried to kill the cat on the first night 🫢 Today we went over to the Artisan market in the town as Nix needed some hand soap. We met an Old English Sheepdog on the way, she was very nice. We also passed a guitarist and I wasn’t scared at all, Nix said it’s probably because I’m going a bit deaf 🤔 When we got home Nix started to build my new step in the cover that Sara very kindly made for me. The original plan was to put thick foam rubber inside but then Nix decided that was too expensive.   Today has been a busy busy and really busy day. It was a bit like Christmas because a parcel arrived from Sara Butcher and not only did it contain my new step but there were lots of presents too. I got a proper drying towel with my name on it and I got a new taggie and a new lead made by Sara. Nix got a mask with a sort of Beardie face on it so we have both been very lucky. Nix has to go out now and buy the piece of foam to go into my new step and then I can test it out, I think I’m going to like it.   Just after the parcel arrived the man who bought the bed came to collect it. You don’t want to know what was under that bed, it was rather disgusting. At some point Nix must have dropped a mug of tea and it must have run right under the bed. This had mixed in with all the fluff and dogs hair and formed a congealed lump in the middle of the floor…quite disgusting.  Nice early start today, we were out before sunrise down at low tide. I did wear my coat but it wasn’t really very cold. The special thing Nix bought to put under my bed to stop the condensation didn’t work by the way. When she lifted the bed today it was soaking wet underneath…too much heat from my hot body. She put it on our neighbours WhatsApp and one of our neighbours took it to put in their shed. At least now Nix doesn’t have to take it up to the recycling centre because we all know how much she loves going there 🤣 As you know Nix sold her bed and they are collecting it tomorrow. She decided to move us into the spare room today as we are a bit busy in the morning. Nix says she isn’t looking forward to sleeping in a single bed but she’s kept her double duvet on it so it’s not so bad. We have to sleep there now until 1st April because the bed size we chose is a bit of an unusual size and it has to be made.  Apparently I’m very annoying when Nix goes to the toilet. I like to stand in the doorway and stare. She thinks it’s very funny to say, “Move along there, nothing to see here…”  I don’t think that’s very funny at all and anyway she stands and stares when I do the poopies on the beach so I can’t really see the difference. There’s always a good reason for me staring and it’s usually because I think Nix is going to go out and leave me on my own. To be fair I am mostly wrong I must admit but this morning I just knew I was going to be left. Nix tries not to show it but she does get a bit anxious about it and I always spot the signs.  I give her the ‘Please don’t leave me on my own’ look and it usually works but this morning she said she wanted to go to the Ash Wednesday service at church without moi 😕 She wasn’t gone very long and I think she really enjoyed it and she’s got a black cross on her forehead which I quite like.  It’s been quite a miserable day weather wise so...

  So Yesterday Nix decides on a whim to sell her double bed. As you know I don’t sleep on the bed any longer as it’s too high for me to jump so I have a nice big dog bed on one side and a much smaller one on the other. So she decided if she gets a smaller bed for her there will be more room for a proper doggie donut bed for me on both sides. I think she misses me on the bed and wants me to be close to her all night. Anyway she put the bed on Facebook Marketplace and it sold straight away for the full asking price and they are collecting it on Friday…result…you’d think 🤣 We have just been over to the bed shop in Hove and Nix chose a new bed. They got her to lay on this weird bed with a TV screen above and it measured Nix’s spine and things to see which would be the best mattress. After that they made her a cup of tea and I had a little sleep while they did all the paperwork. So…the old bed is being collected on Friday and guess when the new bed is being delivered… April 1st!!! ...

I’m afraid we haven’t done that much today. Nix is worried about me not wanting to jump on anything so she is looking at some steps. I wouldn’t go up the ones she bought before so she’s found some that look easier to climb up…I’ll send you a picture. I think I might be able to get up them so Nix is just checking the measurements. The other option is a ramp because I think I would walk up one of those. Nix said we have to face facts and I’m never going to get on the bed again because it is too high. I have so many beds of my own I don’t mind but I would like to get on the sofa now and again and obviously into the car. I don’t go in the boot, I go where the back seats would normally be so it’s not really very high, I think the steps would work well and they’re made out of foam so Nix could carry them in and out of the house easily…along with my bed of course 🤣 I did manage to get in the car this morning as it was Nix’s turn to clean at the church.   Someone is owed an apology apparently, the dinosaur has become extinct…again 🫢 It’s not my fault, I was allowed in the garden after my walk for the first time this year. It’s been warm and sunny and I haven’t had to wear any of my coats at all today. I got a bit over excited and grabbed the dinosaur on my way out and seeing as I’m not allowed to dig there’s not a lot a chap can find to do out there. I’m very sorry and to make matters worse Nix can’t remember who gave it to me.  She is having one of those days today.  The dogs’ water bowl she leaves out kept ending up in the middle of the pavement. This morning she heard it clattering around and saw the culprit, a huge seagull, he was trying to have a bath in it.  Well it’s been a bit of a funny old day today. We went out late last night because Nix thought we might have another lay in this morning but you know how it is, when a chap’s awake a chap has to go out. I find the staring doesn’t work when Nix is asleep so if the arm is out I can lick her hand but otherwise I just do my rumble…it’s a cross between a growl and a bark 🙂  We went down the beach but not very far because Nix in her wisdom decided we would go to Worthing market a bit later on. She really should check her days and her directions because when we got there, there was no sign of a market. There was however a really interesting array of shops including one of my favourites, a dog boutique and one of Nix’s favourites, Bert’s Homestore. We also met a very sweet little dog, I thought it was a toy at first and very nearly grabbed it.   Well we’ve had quite a busy day today even though it’s been very windy and a bit cold. Nix overslept this morning which is very unlike her. She woke up twenty minutes before the alarm went off so she decided to switch it off, she then went straight back to sleep again. We did make it to church in time and it actually seemed much warmer than normal so I didn’t get in my bed straight away. After about 20 minutes of laying on the floor the old joints got a bit sore so I quietly moved over into my bed and I slept soundly there. Nix had taken the Vanish with us to continue to clean the coffee stain on the carpet where have coffee and I think she is very pleased with the result. She probably needs to get a life 🤣 This afternoon we gave one of our friends a lift to hospital and Nix decided to treat herself to a Filet of Fish from McDonald’s while we waited for her.
