I Don’t Think Nix Should Go Out After Dark…

Image
So as you know I don’t like it when Nix sneezes. I’ve never liked it but more recently I’ve developed a dislike to her coughing and clearing her throat as well. She can do all of these things in daylight, just not after dark when the lights go out. Bearing all this in mind I’d have thought it fairly obvious that I am not going to like her bursting out laughing once the lights have gone out. If she wilI insist on watching movies late into the night she should choose ones that aren’t funny. I’d have thought this was fairly obvious…who’s with me 👍 So it’s rained all day and it’s very windy…almost 50 mph. We’ve had to go out because I need the loo obviously but we did nearly get blown over. This morning I was a bit desperate so we went out early and it was still dark. As you can imagine this is not the best weather for someone with vertigo to be walking in the dark 🫢 Nix’s iPad is really playing up now, it’s either writing jibberish or deleting whole paragraphs. She’s spending her winte

Wet And Windy Day Today ☔️

Image
It’s very wet and windy today so we haven’t done very much. We went out very early before the rain started and then we waited for it to stop to go out again after lunch. Don’t tell her I know but Nix has been across the bridge into town to get her medication. She went when she thought I was asleep as I’m not allowed in the chemist. I pretended I hadn’t woken up while she was gone as I didn’t want her to feel guilty. I’m glad I did actually because she was having a right old moan when she got back. Apparently Boots the chemist wasn’t opening until 3pm. Nix wasn’t amused, she said there’s no excuse for that. Anyway she went round to another chemist to get the olive oil drops but couldn’t collect her medication as it had been sent to Boots. Doesn’t really matter that much because the doctor told her not to take it unless things got worse as the vertigo would clear up more quickly if she didn’t take it.  Nix has had lots of recommendations from all of you so thank you but it would seem n

Nix Is Better And We Got A New Coffee Machine

I know you like to read about my adventures but I thought I should let you know about Nix. The doctor called yesterday and he had quite a long discussion with Nix and he asked her lots of questions. His diagnosis is vertigo which is hilarious really because Nix is absolutely terrified of heights, she won’t even go up the loft ladder 🙄 Anyway she has to put olive oil drops in one of her ears because it is blocked and if that doesn’t do the trick she will have to have her ear syringed. Nix isn’t amused because apparently you used to be able to get your ears syringed at the doctors, not any longer, you have to go somewhere and pay for it…let’s hope the olive oil works 🙂 Thank you for all the messages, we haven’t had time to read them all but getting there. Nix got almost as many messages as I did when I was sick. Speaking of me being sick…it all started when I was seven and the horrible vet at the referral practice only gave me a two to three year prognosis. My vet Bron was a bit cross

Nix Isn’t Very Well Today…

Image
Nix isn’t very well today so there won’t be a blog as such.  She felt a bit giddy when she woke up and instead of staying where she was, she decided to go to the bathroom. That was very dramatic I must say as she was crashing from one wall into the other and woke me up. Anyway, the dizziness has gone now and she thinks it’s her ears which have been a bit blocked up and we’re waiting for the doctor to call back... it’s been quite a long wait, six hours so far 😕 She has managed to get me out for my walks and Catherine next door has offered to take me too. As there aren’t any photos I thought I’d be creative with some we already have of moi in my different coats 😇

Three Walks Before Lunch 🙂

Image
I’ve been out three times today and all before lunchtime 🙂 First of all we had our usual early morning walk along the beach. We were just in time to see Nix’s friend Ali and her friends going in for their daily early morning dip. They always scream when they go in, you’d think they’d know by now it was going to be really really cold. I think they’re very brave, Nix thinks they’re completely mad 🙂  After that we headed down to the Church of the Good Shepherd as Nix was hoping to meet two ladies who have volunteered to help her with the ‘warm spaces’ café when it opens. Nix didn’t realise that the early morning communion service on a Tuesday doesn’t last very long so by the time we got there everyone had gone. We’ll have to try again next week. We went home so Nix could have a cup of tea and then we headed to the beach again to encourage the Christmas litter pickers. That didn’t go too well as I had a bit of a humping incident, well two actually so I had to go on the lead…the Pug was

Boxing Day Today and it’s Really Warm 🙂

Image
Nix and I have been very lucky this Christmas as we’ve had quite a few lovely presents. We have been looking at the present from Catherine and Barney from next door. It has come all the way from Ethiopia and it’s got lots of different crosses on it. Nix thinks she might get a real one to wear round her neck but it would be hard to chooses as they are all so different. We both had such a lovely Christmas Day but probably best not to mention the trifle. All I’m saying is there were still two packs of raspberries in the fridge this morning which might account for the trifle not tasting quite right.  An unmitigated disaster Nix says and I’m thinking that probably isn’t a good thing 🤣 We’ve had a warm and sunny day here today but we’ve been a bit worried about all our friends in the US where the weather is really cold. We hope you are all keeping warm enough and I do have quite a lot of warm coats which I’m happy to share with my American friends...just say the word. 🙂 We went to Bucking

Merry Christmas Everyone 🎄🎄🎄

Nix has had three glasses of Prosecco so you probably shouldn’t expect too much 🤣 Church this morning for our Christmas service…I slept right the way through and didn’t even wake up when Nix went forward for communion. My bed was right next to the radiator 🙂 I got a present from Santa of some treats which I think was really from Sheila and Edgar and Nix got some shortbread from them too…I really wanted that 😋 We went for a quick walk on the beach when we came out and then we headed home and went next door to Jackie and Peter’s for our Christmas lunch. Catherine and Barney were there too and of course Indie. We took a present for Indie and I got two presents back. I got a reindeer and a dinosaur and I love them both…I’ll show you a photo tomorrow. We had a lovely lunch which Peter had made and there was Christmas pudding afterwards with Nix’s trifle. I fell asleep under the Christmas tree until it was time to go but just before we left Catherine ruffled up my ears. I really liked th

Christmas Eve And All The Naughty Dog Owners Were Out 😕

Image
It’s Christmas Eve everyone and it seems all the bad dog owners were out to today. This morning I was as usual down by the shoreline when a young lady Labrador was showing a particular interest in moi. Her owner asked Nix if I was a boy or a girl as her Labrador was in season and she didn’t want to have puppies just yet. Once Nix said I wasn’t interested she started jogging off down the boardwalk. There were lots of other dogs around who were interested so we have a feeling that lady might be getting puppies whether she wants them or not 😪 We’ve been over to Hove for a pre Christmas walk. Nix thought everyone would be shopping and it would be really quiet but instead it was really busy. There were more silly dog owners there behaving very irresponsibly 😕 The sea was very rough yet quite a few owners were throwing balls into the sea for their dogs to fetch. Nix didn’t manage to video the really big waves because they only come every five minutes or so but we were really scared for th

Been Visiting Today 🙂

Image
Friday morning and we missed our prayer and meditation. This was because it was pouring with rain and Nix felt it wouldn’t be very good for me to have to lie in the church when I was wet. It can be a bit chilly in there so she felt best we stayed home. I really missed everyone (and the croissants) and we were sad because it was the last one before Christmas and we didn’t get chance to wish everyone a happy Christmas. We will be going to church on Christmas morning though so we’ll see lots of people there.  A bit later on we went for a walk with Jackie and Indie which was very nice. It was a bit chilly on the beach but I had my woollen coat on so I was quite warm enough. On the way home we bumped into Maureen and Peter who live up the road and they invited Nix and me for a cup of tea later that afternoon.  We’ve just got back from Peter and Maureen’s and I was very well behaved. I wore my gold coat as it was perfect for the occasion and I got a Bonio when we arrived. Peter is very clev

Dogs Trust Today To Deliver Towels

Image
It’s a drizzly grizzly old day here today but we were cheered up this morning to receive a lovely gift from Mieke Klinkenberg-Walraven.  There are Beardie stickers for our car and Christmas tree Beardie ornaments...one of them even has my name on it. There’s also a Beardie necklace for Nix to wear on special occasions and she can also hang it on the wall when she’s not wearing it. It’s got a little Beardie on it with 🤍 love my dog as well. Nix really likes it and I like it to, it might just fit round my neck but Nix is shaking her head.  We ventured out in the drizzle because we had planned to go to the Dogs Trust to deliver some towels we don’t use any longer. It’s sad to go there but it is such a lovely place with big fields for the dogs to run in and the reception area was full of things people had donated. They sometimes can have 100 dogs there but we never hear them barking when we walk past so I think they are very happy until they find their forever home. Hopefully the towels

We Went to The Bank Today

Image
I am a little bit bored today to tell you the truth, I was expecting quite a bit more with it being Christmas week. I had to go on my lead on the beach this morning and all because I took off down to the shoreline across the tracks made by the shingle shifters. Nix could see their headlights on and panicked but I happen to know that they don’t start work until 8am and it wasn’t anywhere near that. Anyway she had to come after me and the shingle shifters’ tracks are actually quite deep. I found them really easy to get across, Nix not so much. Anyway when she finally caught up with me I had found a yummy dead fish which I wasn’t about to give up so she put my lead on and marched me home. I dropped the fish on the way back. After lunch (a bag of Maltesers) we walked into town as Nix had to go into the bank. I matched the ladies in there as they were wearing festive red sweaters. After the bank we went to the pet shop and I think Nix was buying my Christmas present. She also put me on t
