The iPad Broke and Then Nix Fixed It πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Nix is feeling very pleased with herself today. Yesterday was the final straw. The drilling men started at 3pm and didn’t stop until 10pm but at least we were able to go to sleep in the night and they fixed one leak. In the middle of all the noise the iPad broke and Nix was panicking. We can’t afford a new one and she didn’t think she could type the blog out every day on her phone. We thought this was to be the end of the blog and Nix was really upset. There was talk of using some of her ‘funeral fund’ to get a new one 🫒 Anyway she decided to Google to see if there was anything she could do. She didn’t think so because the home button thingy was stuck and she knew it was probably to do with the cracked screen. Anyway she tried all the tips to get it working but none of them worked. Then finally the guy she was watching on YouTube said that if none of these things worked you could give yourself another ‘home button’ 😳 She followed his instructions and voila, she now has a new floating

Oops it Happened Again 🫒

So…the morning didn’t start off so well πŸ€” Nix was making her breakfast and popping out every now and again to check all was well in the garden. I was fast asleep by the summerhouse when she first checked but when she came out the next time there was a huge hole in the garden. I feel really bad not waking up when the intruder arrived but I was quite tired. Nix wants to know why I was ’asleep’ by the summerhouse when she checked first and had moved to the seating area next time she checked. It’s not a crime is it to move around the garden. Anyway as usual I’ve got the blame and Nix video’d it to shame me into not doing it again πŸ™„ She shouldn’t hold her breath on that one 🫒 We did go down to the beach after breakfast as it was low tide and sandy. We walked all the way to the church and I was allowed off my lead as the BCJ never comes down that end. It was very enjoyable, there were horses and lots of friends to meet. This afternoon we have been to Cuckoo’s Corner for a walk down the r

Sunday, a Day of Rest…Sort Of πŸ™‚

Image
Well it’s Sunday, a day of rest…supposedly. I’ve been doing a fair bit of resting but Nix not so much. We had an early morning walk on the boardwalk before church, I stayed on my lead. It wasn’t the end of the world because we always come back down the streets anyway and I would have to be on my lead then. When we actually go to church we drive most of the way now because it’s too hot to walk. I did get to go off my lead on the beach down there because it’s a long way away from the BCJ. After church we have tea and biscuits, my favourite bit. This morning I managed to win over our organist Tony who brought me a digestive biscuit all to myself. He’s my favourite person at the moment but I am open to all offers πŸ˜‰ When we got home and I was asleep Nix thought she’d sneak out to buy some garden bags to put all the prunings and weeds in and who should walk past but our neighbours Maureen and Peter. When Nix said where she was going they said as their garden bin was empty Nix could put all

Bit of an Incident on the Beach Last Night 🫒

Image
You know how everyone wants me to be in a book…well great news, I am in a book. In fact I am in more than one book, they are called ‘The Bad Books’ and I am the star πŸ˜‡ For some reason Nix isn’t speaking to me. When I say ‘for some reason’ it’s not that I don’t know why she’s not speaking to me but I’d prefer not to go into it too much though I shall inform you all because I know you won’t judge πŸ˜‡ Suffice to say there was an incident on the beach yesterday evening. Nix wasn’t paying attention as usual and didn’t see the approach of the BCJ. The owner was wearing a baseball cap and was on his own and with Nix’s face blindness there was no chance of her recognising him. I was swift to act and raced down the boardwalk and flung myself at the BCJ. Unfortunately I did fall over in the middle of it and landed on my back on the pebbles. I was soon up though and back in action but can you believe I fell over again. I don’t think my legs are as strong as they used to be and Nix’s definitely a

Feeling a Lot Better Today πŸ™‚

Image
I think we’ll do an early blog today because I know you all worry about me and that’s very nice. I’m here to tell you that I am completely better. Not sure what was wrong yesterday but whatever it was it’s gone away. I’ll try and get Nix to take us to interesting places today so I can tell you all about them tomorrow.  We went to bed at 9pm last night because we were so tired. Nix read for a bit but I went straight to sleep. We got up early this morning for prayer and meditation over at the big church in Shoreham town. I prefer this to actual church because we get croissants afterwards. There’s only ginger biscuits after Sunday church which I’m not so keen on. On the way home we called in at Ginger & Dobbs to buy some vegetables for Nix’s new diet which I’m thinking of taking bets on as to how long it will last πŸ€”  I got treats from a very nice lady in there, she had green finger nails which I really liked.  We’re home now and Nix has been gardening. What I’d like to know is how c

Bit Poorly Today

Image
I’m a bit poorly today so I’m sorry but there won’t be much of a blog. I had a very bad night because there was a lot of noise in the skies and there were bright lights too. The noises didn’t actually wake me up at first because I don’t hear so well these days but once the lights came I was very scared. It went on all night and in the end Nix got up and put the TV on and made a cup of tea. I did shake a lot and I tried to dig the shower tray up but I did settle eventually.  We went for our walk this morning and I felt fine. It was around lunchtime when I started to feel unwell. I came into the lounge because I was really trembling. At first Nix thought it might be something to do with the previous night’s storm but I don’t think it was. I started to stretch my neck and I do that when I have some pain. Nix now thinks that I was probably passing a stone but we don’t really know. I felt a little bit better and we went for a very short walk round the block and I got lots of attention by t

Quiet Day For Us Today…

Image
We’ve had a bit of a quiet day today, it’s been very hot. We did pop over the footbridge into town to buy a wedding card for my Dog daughter Beth who is getting married on Friday.  When we got back from town Paul had arrived and was already starting to remove the weeds from the front drive. Nix is very happy because not only did he remove all the weeds but he swept up too and now the drive looks very respectable. Nix planted the rose that Susan brought…for some reason she’s planted it in one of the planters. I expect it’s to protect it from the intruder, probably a very good idea. This afternoon we were going for a walk with Jackie and Indie but it was very hot and Indie didn’t want to go. I think Nix and Jackie were quite relieved and we went round the block and back to Jackie’s for tea and homemade bread and butter pudding. I should have liked some of that but no one woke me up. I like sleeping on the grass but we don’t have any. Nix said she might see if we can get a big wooden tra

We Got Beardie Visitors Today πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Image
Nix told me we were getting visitors today and they would be visitors we’d never met before and there would be two Beardies 🫒 This was very exciting but they weren’t coming until 10am so we went for a little walk first. When we got home I was too excited to go for my sleep, I preferred to wait in the window to see them arrive. Very annoying that I actually fell asleep and when I woke up we did have visitors but it wasn’t two Beardies, it was my friend Bear with his owner Paul and their friend Teddy. That was a lovely surprise visit but really I wanted to meet two new Beardies. We had a good time though and Paul is going to help Nix get the weeds up from the front drive as apparently when she filled in the hole dug by the intruder she hurt her back πŸ™„ Just as Paul was leaving a car was pulling into our drive and there were two Beardies in the back. It was Susan Carpel Martin with Bella and Murphy. This was very exciting indeed and we all got to know each other very quickly. Susan had

Back to the Vets to Get My Dew Claws Clipped, That Wasn’t Very Enjoyable πŸ˜”

Image
Well another very busy day. First of all a couple of photos from the newcomers’ tea yesterday. Unfortunately my tail picked up quite a lot ot thingies from the vicarage garden and I dragged most of them into the church on my tail. Nix swept up afterwards so that’s okay, she needs to do that a bit more often here at home. It took her forever to get them out of my tail, much longer than it should have but I’m looking smart again now. This morning we had to go and pick up my antibiotics from the vet and Nix had arranged for me to have my dew claws cut with the nurse as she forgot to ask Bron to do them last week. She’s going to be Nurse Nasty from now on because she really hurt me and made my claw bleed. It spoiled our planned walk to the puppy park afterwards as Nix didn’t want me to get it too dirty. She’s promised that we can go back next week. Nix was very upset because I bared my teeth at the vet nurse when she tried to stop it bleeding. I’ve never done that in my life to anyone, no

We Went to a Tea Party This Afternoon πŸ™‚

Image
Well we’re a bit late writing the blog today. This is because we’ve been out to a scone and cream tea this afternoon in the vicarage garden. Nix was an interloper really because it was a tea for newcomers to our church but Nix felt that seeing as how she’s never been to a newcomers tea before she should go to this one. No one seemed to mind and I certainly didn’t as I got a bit of scone with cream on it…this was only after Nix had picked out the sultanas of course. We watched a very interesting film afterwards about the area where we live and when the church was first built. I must admit to sleeping through most of it but Nix really enjoyed it. We’ve just got back and I shall have a nap and then probably a quick walk round the block for a last wee.  This morning we went to church as usual and I greeted my many friends. Thing is we don’t have a choir at the moment as they are on strike for the whole month of August. Nix says they’re not on strike, just taking a little holiday which the

A Trip Up the River but Not on a Boat πŸ™‚

Image
I was a ‘bit poorly’ last night. As you know I like to trot everywhere but on our last walk of the day I only wanted to walk…slowly. Nix was very worried because she hasn’t seen me like that before. She said I looked really poorly and that I was looking at her trying to tell her something. I think I was but I’m not sure what. It might have been, “Why wouldn’t you let me out in the garden all afternoon?” Anyway before we went to bed she decided to take me round the block and if I was still very slow she was going to call the vet. Guess what, I was completely back to normal and trotting along as usual. She says she thinks I’m up to something πŸ˜‰ This afternoon we decided to investigate a part of the river Adur that we’ve never been to before. That meant driving to where we normally walk to and carrying on walking from there. We were crossing the field to the river when Nix heard someone calling her name. It was Jane our vicar with some of our congregation and they were doing a pilgrimage
