The Adventures of Fripp

  So couldn’t really be bothered to be good at the moment because I know Nix is going out this evening to do her church thingie so I was never going to get a decent walk today. I’ve got Auntie Jackie from next door coming in to keep me company so I’m saving up my good behaviour for her 🥰   My Beardie friends out there will agree I’m sure that we prefer to go through a door that is properly open. I don’t like squeezing through small gaps and so I usually refuse to move until Nix opens the door properly. She thought putting a wheelie bin to block my entrance to the side path would stop me from digging up the plants. This was never going to work and I should have thought this was very obvious. Being forced to go through a narrow doorway to suit Nix is never going to happen. Getting through an even narrower gap to get to the plants down the side is something completely different. You’d have thought she’d have learnt her lesson with the very expensive picket fence she bought to stop me get

 Nix cut her own hair yesterday...oops 🤣🤣🤣 It didn’t look too bad the first time she did it but this time...oh dear 🤭 Worst thing is she has to stand up in front of church tomorrow and deliver a few verses...she’s using two of my hair slides to hold it back. I did warn her that church is meant to be serious...I fear there shall be much laughter Been to the beach this morning, full moon, low tide...my favourite time and place. Nix disappointingly only disappeared down one sink hole but there are a few more mornings...I can bide my time 🤣 I got to go to Cuckoo’s Corner this afternoon for a walk along the river. Good job I didn’t laugh at Nix’s hair to her face or I might still be at home 🤭 It’s a bit like the summer today, I liked it 😎 My turkey mince arrived today but there were no green beans again. Nix is very annoyed because she can’t cook my dinners without them. They keep sending mixed vegetables but they have peas in them and I’m not allowed. I think I might be getting fres

 Guess what...I was very well behaved on the beach this morning because Nix promised if I was good we could not only go to the hill but we could go much further than usual as long as the sun was out. It gets very windy up there and Nix gets a bit cold if it’s not sunny poor old thing.  So we got to the hill and it was very busy. All the humans have been released from their homes today and they’re allowed to meet friends outside and go for a walk. We didn’t meet any friends, just the two of us because that’s the way I like it. Guess what...we walked the furthest we’ve walked since before I got my autoimmune disease and that’s three years ago. I met so many dogs and lots of people and I had a really good time. So you see it’s worth being a good boy sometimes...when the sun’s out 🙂

  So today we’ve been taking it easy because Nix’s knees are hurting a bit. This means just a walk round the manor this afternoon but I don’t mind really. I’m still quite tired from my walk yesterday because I am eleven now so I do get tired a bit more easily. I think it’s nice for Nix to walk locally because she gets to talk to lots of different doggie people as we walk around. This does make up for the fact that she doesn’t actually have any friends.  Today is very windy and quite cold but tomorrow the sun is going to be out all day and we might go somewhere really exciting. Nix said it will make up for not going far today and I’ve settled down now anyway with my treat so I’m happy. I hope that Nix can help me to be more interesting tomorrow 🙂

 I’ve been a very busy boy today because Nix is feeling a lot better so we’ve had lots to do. First of all a visit to the new trench at the old fort. Not much use to me because I couldn’t get at the sandbags to wee up them, I shall have to bide my time on that one. This afternoon we’ve been to the hill and the woods and I even shared my woodland path with the horses. The mean farmer won’t let them go through his field any longer so I said they could use my path. Their little dog took a liking to me and he nearly got left behind. I prefer sharing the path with the horses to the cyclists who really don’t watch where they’re going.  When we were walking up the hill I got a lot of attention from this lady. She asked me what my name was and then said, “You are gorgeous Fripp, I really need you in my life...”  I liked her, she had very good taste. Don’t worry, I know what you lot are like, she wasn’t trying to steal me 🙂 On the way home we stopped at Pet’s Cormer to get my treats. Nix said

 So Nix has been recovering for most of the day after her falls yesterday. I didn’t think I’d get much in the way of walks today because she does have bad bruises and I know she’s stiff but I haven’t done too badly really. We went to the beach this morning...Nix was hobbling along like the old person she is and got lots of sympathy so that made her feel better. I’d been a good boy and I didn’t really leave her side on the beach until she did her accidental releasing of the poo bags in the wind...so embarrassing 🙄 This afternoon we have been to the local park for a quick walk and Nix managed to stay on her feet even through the little wood which was a miracle in itself...she was walking very slowly though.  I expect there’ll be more to tell tomorrow when we are collecting my dog treats from the pet shop 🙂

  So not going to be too much of a blog today because Nix has fallen over...twice 🤭 Now the first one was blamed on me of course. She should know better than to try and capture me on unsteady ground when I have found something yummy. She would insist on tredging over the pebbles and trying to get my lead on. Once that’s on I’m finished because she waits for me to drop my prize and then she yanks me away from it. She says I have to have a harness now because I’m finding yummy prizes every day and it’s bad for my neck. The second fall was entirely her own fault too. To be fair she was trying to be helpful by stepping into a neighbours’ garden so an elderly couple could pass without going into the road. Unfortunately there was a big sticky up paving slab and she went flat on her face...literally...landed on her nose. The lady wanted to help but the man wasn’t too keen, he wanted to know if Nix had had her first vaccination 🤭 No need for anyone to worry, she’s okay, just feeling a bit so

 There’s been a hat trick, Nix is not amused...what’s new 🤣🤣🤣 First of all I found the most scrumptious dead fish on the beach. I had to go a long way to find it but the delicious aroma led me to the spot. Nix wasn’t amused  because she said I went too far away to get to it and it scared her because she couldn’t see me. Honestly she does panic at the slightest thing, I wasn’t going anywhere while there was a scrummy fish to eat.  Then on our way home we saw the black Labrador who used to annoy me. I got told off so many times for trying to mount him that I’ve given up now. This morning however I could smell him on his owner and so the deed had to be done. I launched myself at her but Nix just managed to grab me before I landed. Everyone was wondering what the ‘terrible’ smell was 🤣 Finally got home and Nix has been cleaning the paving stones so I was allowed to wander ad infinitum round he garden. She really shouldn’t have left me alone while she emptied the bucket...there’s someth

Look if you’re going to wake up early and have your breakfast in bed you must expect me to want to go out as soon as you’ve finished...correct? I personally think it’s very rude to completely ignore me when I am clearly impatient to get going. Bringing your knees up to your chin in the hope of blotting me out was never going to work, I can always get higher. I shouldn’t have to work so hard in order to get the exercise I so justly deserve.  Speaking of just deserts apparently I’m definitely getting mine this afternoon.  Nix has just spotted my rearrangement of what she calls the border next to the fence. I mean it’s hardly a border is it, nevertheless she had planted seeds in it to make it less boring. She completely overreacted when she saw it and said I was not allowed in the garden on my own ever again... seriously 🙄 Do you like the photo of my new friend Jasmine, I bet she’s allowed in the garden on her own 😕

 I’d like to introduce you to my new friends... Joanna, Sue and Carol and Jasmine the Beardie. Nix was around somewhere being boring as usual...that was when she wasn’t trying to muscle in on my new friends. It was Joanna’s birthday so they had celebratory fried egg sandwiches with crisps which I wasn’t allowed. Then they all sang Happy Birthday to Jo, humans can be so embarrassing sometimes. Jasmine and I pretended we belonged with the couple standing next to us.  We were meant to meet Jo and her friends at the cafe but we were a bit early so they then arranged to meet each other halfway along the beach. Somehow they managed to all walk straight past each other... honestly, and Nix with her new glasses 🙄 So...they were at the cafe and we were going the wrong way but we all managed to meet up in the end so miracles do still happen.  I liked Jasmine a lot but I tried not to show it 🥰 PS Split infinitive tut tut 🤣

 I am resting at the moment because I’m quite tired but I’ve had a very good time today. Nix said there was a special surprise waiting for me at the woods and I thought it might be a new toy but it was much better than that. Nix was sitting on the bench by the pond and I was minding my own business (for once says Nix) and who should come bounding towards us but Spud and Loki. They were all on their own, I was very impressed because I thought they’d walked there from home but pretty soon  Mark and Vicki turned up of course. Spud really likes it in the pond, he went straight in and then he got Mark to throw the ball for him over and over again. I must ask Spud what training he uses because his dad is very obedient...he threw the ball in the pond lots and lots of times.  We’re home now and I’m still very wet. I’ve tried drying myself off on both of the beds but the sunshine is best 🙂
