No Croissant for Moi

Image
This morning we were on our way up to the old fort and we bumped into a couple of Nix’s friends…she does actually have a few miraculously. We all went for tea and croissants and I was promised the last bit but Nix was so busy talking she forgot and ate it. Can someone please report this to the appropriate authorities…thank you. As you will see I was wearing my harness which I don’t mind but I don’t like being on the lead because I’m not really able to trot ahead as usual. I don’t like those extending jobbies because once I very nearly got strangled by one and it was very scary. Nix said she would get me one of those long lines and then she looked at the price and changed her mind. I used to have one but for reasons best known to herself she had cut it up and now she was threatening to knot it all together and take me out with it. I refused but thankfully the very kind Suzanne Drew messaged Nix and offered to send me one as a gift from her company odd-dog.co.uk. I even got to choose wh

Very Windy Today…

Image
Just look at the time, honestly I’ve been ready for hours and Nix is only just getting round to typing my blog. She says she’s exhausted after last night. Apparently I spent most of the night washing my bits and very loudly too and when I wasn’t doing that I was digging up the floor. I don’t know why she can’t just sleep through it. I have to sleep through her ‘plumping’ up the pillows every half hour. She says she can’t get comfortable because they go too flat and so she has to plump them up…it’s very annoying.  We knew it was going to be very wet and windy today so yesterday evening we went to the beach to take some photos. Nix took a selfie and thankfully I’ve managed to almost block her out.  We had ice cream on the way home.  Today we’ve made many attempts to go out for a walk but the wind was too strong, it was almost blowing us over. We were sitting at home bored when Jackie who lives next door said she was bored too so we went in for a cup of tea and a piece homemade fruitcake

Walk of the Windmills Today

Image
Today has been windmill day. We went back to visit a walk we used to do when we lived in Hove. We walked all the way down to the dew pond but it has been fenced off. I used to like to go in there for a paddle and a drink but that wasn’t possible. Good job Nix had brought water. After our walk we stopped off at the cafe and Nix had a vegetarian sausage sandwich and guess what, I got a proper sausage. Nix didn’t even have to ask for it, they just handed it over…it was yummy. There was a scary moment when two dogs came running into the café area without their owners. The café is on a very busy road and we were all very scared. Someone had left the gate open so the owners didn’t realise that the dogs could escape their walk. One came up to us as he was very interested in Nix’s sandwich and the other, a golden labrador ate someone’s lunch.🤣🤣🤣  I didn’t have to wear my harness on the windmill walk  because the BCJ doesn’t go up there but I did wear it this morning on the beach. We got Visitors from Scotland, I Got Haggis Treats

Image
Nix has been very very busy…for a change. She had to get my custard cream balls made because as you all know I have to go back on my antibiotics for a month. I’m on day 2 already so only 29 to go. I don’t usually eat very well when I’m on them but I’ve just eaten two meals in one go.  Guess what…Liz and Janette came to visit today from Scotland and they brought with them a harness pour moi. It fits perfectly and is quite comfortable and I shall be wearing it from now on. This is because if I have any incidents or more likely when I have more incidents Nix can hold me tight without it hurting my throat. I’m just hoping it’s not going to cramp my style. Guess what else I got from Liz and Janette…home made haggis treats…I really like them.  I took Liz and Janette down our beach for a walk. I was let off the lead too though under threat of the haggis treats being confiscated if there were any incidents…there were none 😇 We stopped for a cup of tea for them and nowt pour moi as usual. Back on my Antibiotics but Only for a Month

Image
Last night was very annoying. The skies were very noisy and they kept lighting up our bedroom. Nix would have slept through it but I woke her up digging the bathroom floor up. The other night when it happened she fooled me Into getting on the bed with my collar and lead on and then I couldn’t get down again and when the skies are noisy I need to dig. She thought I’d fall for it again last night but oh no…I think not. She tried every way to get me on that bed but there was no way I was getting up there. She falls asleep with my lead in her hand and I’m just left to it…it’s not good enough. I’m not scared…at all, I just prefer to have Nix awake too. I apparently make the bed shake 🤣 This afternoon we have been to the other side of the river. It’s like when we used to live in Hove and drive there. I like it on that side and the tide was in so nice clean water. I do try to drink it but it’s a bit salty and anyway Nix takes water from the fridge for me so by the time we get there it’s the

I’ve Got a Sister in France Called Calie 🙂

Image
Nix got a photo yesterday of my sister Calie who belongs to a lady called Sophie who lives in France…as you know I am French.  I haven’t really met Calie apart from when we were all babies together. Nix thinks she looks like me but probably isn’t as naughty. She goes on the paddle board so we’re probably not much alike, you wouldn’t get me on one of those things and can you imagine Nix 🤣🤣🤣 Nix has been thinking about some of my ‘incidents’ in the past and she’s beginning to realise that I’ve always been naughty. I hadn’t lived with her for long when there was the first black Labrador incident on Hove beach. I was two years old and I’d been living with Nix for  a few months. One day I spotted this black Labrador on the beach. I don’t quite know what came over me but I raced down the beach and knocked him over. Nix got told off by the owner who said I should be on the lead as I was vicious. That’s not true I never bite, I just make a lot of noise. The Labrador moved away eventually,

Very Noisy Skies, I Don’t Like Them 😕

Image
Well to say we’ve been taking it easy today is a bit of an understatement really but it has been raining I suppose…a lot…even the duck race was cancelled. At least we didn’t get the very noisy skies like the night before last. Nix said she didn’t get any sleep because I was trembling so much the whole bed was shaking. I wasn’t scared of course, just a bit excited. I always dig the floor up when I’m excited but I was forced to have my collar and lead on and get on the bed. Nix fell asleep with the light on and my lead still in her hand. I don’t like the noisy skies at all, I’m not scared as you know but they’re very annoying and make it hard to sleep. Apparently I was a pain in the bum last night because when we went out for our evening walk I was on high alert. I can’t help it if that BCJ has been spotted down that road, it’s not my fault. If I see a dog coming I just assume it’s him and so I go all sort of rigid in Nix’s words. Then I start whining in Nix’s words and then start pranc

This Day Three Years Ago

Image
So this day three years ago Nix was struggling down the stairs with me because I was fairly unresponsive up on the bed. When we got to the vets they couldn’t get my temperature down so Nix had to drive me to the hospital in Brighton so I could stay overnight. They knew my kidneys weren’t right and my temperature was very high so they tried lots of things which didn’t work.  After a week at the Brighton hospital Nix had to come and get me and drive me to North Downs Specialist Referrals.  They said I should have to stay in for more tests so Nix booked a room in the local pub. After a couple of days they gave Nix three options. They could fit a stent, they could do a bypass or they could completely remove the kidney. They said my other kidney would only sustain me for six months so that was out. Nix and the surgeon decided on a stent but the surgeon called midway and said that the mass they’d seen was infection and if he cleaned that up everything might work again. It only lasted a day

All Flushed Through Very Nicely Thank You 🙂

Image
We’ve been out for most of the day today. Most of the time was spent getting my bypass flushed at the vets. It took us a long time to get there and I had to have my walk in Hove park cut short but that was okay as it was quite hot. Nix said the traffic was bad because it’s Friday and everyone is heading home for the weekend. I wasn’t that bothered I was asleep in the back of the car 🙂  When we got to the vets we had to sit outside and wait. It was half an hour before Bron my vet came to get me. Nix then has to wait in the car while my flush is done. Once Bron couldn’t do it because it was swollen and that was because there’d been an ‘incident’ 🤭 I had to go back three times before it could be done. As you know there was a bit of an incident recently and Nix was worried that the same might happen. Nix said it’s not so bad when you wait inside because there are people to talk to and it takes your mind off things. Just sitting in the car was a bit stressful I think and made worse by th

Got a Cough Today but Only When I Bark 😕

Image
Apparently I was very badly behaved yesterday and I was very lucky indeed to get an extra walk in the evening down to the river bank. Nix said it was only because it had been so hot in the afternoon and I could go and cool off but actually when we got there, there wasn’t any water, it had all gone out to sea 🙄 I’ve got a bit of a cough today but only when I bark. I don’t really bark very often for a Beardie but I do like to bark when we first get in the car and I like to bark until we get out of our drive and start driving down the road. I don’t seem to be able to do that at the  moment, it’s making me cough. Nix says it’s because of me pulling when I see the BCJ. She’s asked for recommendations for a harness, I’m not sure what that is but apparently it will be even easier for me to pull her over. She says she’s stronger than that and the most important thing is that I don’t damage my throat. I’m at the vets tomorrow anyway having my bypass flushed so Nix is going to ask some questio

Bit of a Naughty Boy Today 🤭😙

Image
So I know it’s not even lunchtime yet but Nix has insisted on getting the blog done early because she says if anything else happens today there’ll be no room to write about it.  I’m afraid to say that it all started quite early when we set out on our walk to the old fort. This is of course BCJ territory so as you know I have to stay on my lead.  Nix was gossiping to Debbie on the phone when I spotted him. I can’t say I even tried to restrain myself because I don’t like him. He’s always on the lead so obviously very badly behaved and I don’t want him on my beach. I feel if I shout loud enough he won’t come back but the opposite seems to be happening. He is now walking on top of the mound of pebbles before you get to the sea flaunting himself at my expense 😡 I don’t like it but I can wait, I am a very patient Beardie 🙂 We got to the Pollinator Cafe at the old fort and Nix ordered a croissant and some tea. Bollow the Newfie was there, well he lives there, it’s his garden. Thing is we b
