Happy New Year Everyone πŸ™‚

Image
Apparently last night there was some very weird weather. It was the first time for ages that I haven’t woken up in the middle of the night and then woken Nix up. Instead she managed all on her own…apparently there were hailstones crashing down on the roof and it was so loud it actually scared Nix awake…twice 🀣 We decided in the end not to take our first visit to church this morning but would wait until things are a bit calmer. Hopefully we will try for our Friday morning at St Mary’s this week with coffee and croissant afterwards.  We’ve had two lovely surprises today. First of all Jackie popped in and stayed for a cuppa. I was very happy to see her and I joined her on the sofa for cuddles. Then a bit later Rita and husband Terry and son Terry all turned up for a visit too. They had been for a walk on the  beach after church and decided to drop in for a chat. They also brought Nix some cake as it was Jonathan’s last Sunday at church as he is moving abroad. He is one of our neighbour

The New Step Works Brilliantly πŸ™‚

You’d think Nix would have learned by now that getting impatient and just a bit grumpy when I take off down the beach and refuse to come back is never going to work. I know it was really cold and windy but if she marches me home before my usual walk time is up then I am going to be wanting to go out again sooner than normal. So this morning I took off down the beach and I don’t have to pretend any longer that I can’t hear her because I can’t hear her 🀣 She had to come and get me in the end and she marched me home at top speed. I slept for about one hour and then I was up again wanting to go for a walk. I’d also woken her up in the middle of the night digging in the kitchen this time. I wish I knew why I dig but anyway Nix came in and cuddled me and I went back to sleep.  The new step didn’t look any better this morning, Nix was very disappointed. The cover seemed much too big and then she looked at it more closely and realised she had the foam in the wrong way round. She’s put it rig

My New Step Has Just Arrived πŸ™‚

Image
We just got back from our walk into town and on our way back we bumped into some of our neighbours. I’m not sure why but I started to chatter and click my teeth, apparently it looks very amusing but they wouldn’t think it was so funny if it was happening to them. Other than that I’ve been very well and when we got home Nix went out of the room and when she came back I was asleep…on the sofa without the help of a step. Nix was thrilled but slightly put out as she’s just ordered a special step for me to help me jump on things and we’re waiting for it to be delivered right now. Nix is now wondering if I’ll need it but I think I will because getting in the car is a bit more difficult. It’s not very high but it drops down on the other side. Nix has put lots of vet bed to build it up but I still think I’d like a little step to help me.  The step has just arrived and at the moment it just looks like a blob of foam rubber but Nix knows from my bed that it will expand as the day wears on. I ca

I’ve Been In The Car Today With The Help Of A Step πŸ™‚

Guess what, the sun is out well at least it was out when we went out for a walk but now it’s raining again. We went to Brooklands Park which was very nice as we haven’t been anywhere in the car for ages. I haven’t really wanted to jump up into it. It’s not very high but my back legs aren’t really strong enough. Nix had the brain wave of taking one of the sofa cushions out to the car so I could step on the cushion and straight into the car…it was brilliant πŸ™‚  I have the box that Sarah made for me for getting on the sofa but Nix has decided to use some of  Carol Williamson’s dollars to splash out on a small foam step for me to get in the car as she doesn’t want to ruin the sofa cushion if I get muddy. Thank you Carol, you are very kind 😍 Nix has been watching a documentary on the Shoreham aircrash. It was very sad to see and reminded Nix of the day it happened. We were still living in Hove and every Saturday afternoon we would drive over to Shoreham and walk down the river. The walk

Storm Gerrit is Here 🫒

Nix is very happy today and all because she got to have the best cuddle with me. I tried to get on the sofa on my own but my back legs failed to give me the push I needed. Nix leaned forward and managed to lift my back end up and I sort of landed on top of her. I just lay there in her arms and we had a really good cuddle. To tell you the truth it went on for a bit longer than I would have chosen but I didn’t have the strength to extricate myself plus Nix was holding me so tight I could hardly breathe never mind disentangle myself. I’m back in my own bed now and very comfortable.  It’s very windy here, some sort of storm I think. Who knew there were so many storms and they all have names…humans really can be very weird at times. We did go to the beach and it looked like it was snowing and it was too windy to stay too long.  This afternoon we have been into town because the wind was worse than earlier, much too windy for the beach. We bumped our friend Ann from church so that was very n

We Had Visitors Today, David and Cynthia πŸ™‚

Image
It’s been another quiet day today though we did have a surprise visit from David and Cynthia from our home group. They live on the other side of the river in Shoreham town and they’d come for a Boxing Day walk along the beach. They decided to call in and see us on the way home which was very nice. I gave them a very enthusiastic welcome of course, a little bit too enthusiastic perhaps🫒 We all left together and as we turned the corner to head to the beach ourselves, we bumped into one of our neighbours who always wants to scratch my bottom. Nix keeps telling her that it makes my back legs wobble but she insists on doing it… she says I like it. Well I don’t like it and I don’t like the way she gets her hand inside my coat and tries to scratch me around my neck. I don’t know why humans feel they can do that to dogs they hardly know, they wouldn’t do it to another human πŸ€” Anyway Nix told her not to do it anymore so hopefully she won’t and I shall be trying to avoid her whenever I can.

Christmas Day at the Bartram’s πŸ™‚

Image
Nix has had two glasses of champagne which is one more than she probably should have so I have a feeling today’s blog is going to be quite short πŸ™‚ We are home now and we had a lovely time at Indie’s house. I may have nicked her toy but apart from that all went smoothly. I got some freeze dried raw chicken which seemed to be a surprise to everyone as they were expecting treats. Nix wasn’t sure what to do with it but she’s looked at the container now and apparently it gets put on my food…I’m really looking forward to it, there’s enough for 12 servings!  I was completely back to normal today and to be honest I slept for most of the time. The humans had a very nice lunch cooked by Peter with Barney assisting as sous chef. There was turkey with all the trimmings and Nix had a veggie thingy and there was Christmas pudding for afters and Peter set it alight. There was of course also Nix’s trifle. I slept through the whole time because I am very relaxed these days. It was my first time visi

No Donkey Today πŸ˜•

Image
We were very disappointed today because the donkey got cancelled. To be honest, it was a bit wet and drizzly and very windy so it wouldn’t have been very nice for him or us but hopefully he will come again at Easter and we’ll see him then. Nix will post a photo of John one of the donkeys from the farm, he’s the oldest donkey there and he was born in 1993, that’s really old, almost as old as Jesus. He might even have been ‘that’ donkey 🫒 When we opened our front door this morning, we could hear the waves crashing on the beach so we knew it was going to be very rough and windy. It wasn’t very pleasant and so we didn’t stay too long. We had a bit of a rest when we got home and then we headed into town to the pet shop to buy a present for Indie and who should we bump into on the way…Indie πŸ™‚ Nix will post a photo of what we bought but Jackie and Catherine better make sure that Indie doesn’t see it before tomorrow. I managed to snatch a treat so Nix had to pay for it. It was very nice, I’
