Quietish Day Today 🙂

Image
Some lady with a curly dog asked Nix if I was a sheepadoodle this morning. I think Nix might have snorted as she said no 🙂 We set out later than usual and there were more dogs on the beach, some of them I’ve never met before. There seem to be lots of curly dogs which is slightly annoying because with my diminished eyesight I keep thinking they are the BCJ…I can hope I suppose. A rather spiteful border collie really had a go at me when I tried to nick his ball, he nearly knocked me over.  Our Sainsbury’s delivery was cancelled yesterday and when they brought it today it looked as though the frozen stuff hadn’t been stored correctly. Nix rang up and they gave her all the money back and let her keep the food. Nix says that if she’s not sure about it getting defrosted a bit, I can have it and that includes roast potatoes 😋 This afternoon we just went locally. I like the little wood along the side of the recreation ground and we can walk down by the river too. It was lovely and sunny but

Today I Got To Wear A Vicar’s Scarf Thingy 😇

Image
I have dictated the blog to Nix and now I’m putting my paws up in the cool of the summerhouse. Nix is having to lie on the bed so she can keep watch for the intruder who digs the garden up. She’s even more determined now to knock down the wall between the lounge and the bedroom so she can see straight out to the garden. She’ll never be able to afford it so I don’t need to worry just yet about the intruder being spotted 🙂 We had the café this morning and for the first time not a single person came. Some of the ladies from the earlier communion service stayed on so that was nice. Rev Pat let me wear her vicar’s scarf thingy round my neck…I liked that 😇 Sainsbury’s called to say they couldn’t deliver our groceries for reasons best known to them themselves so Nix has had to go out and buy some food for her tonight as she had used everything up. Sainsbury’s will bring our shopping tomorrow now which is a good thing as my tuna will be in one of the bags. It’s not been a good week for shop

Tea and Biscuits With Frances and Rusty…

Image
Hi everyone, (from Nix)  Thank you so much for so many birthday greetings. I have looked at every one and hopefully ‘liked’ them all but it will be impossible for me to reply to everyone as there are hundreds. It really meant a lot to me and I can’t thank you enough…love from Nix xxx Right Fripp here and let’s get on with the blog now. I had to let Nix have the first words as she’s too lazy to post on her own blog…oh hold on, she doesn’t have one 🤣🤣🤣 We’ve been to visit Frances and Rusty this afternoon, Frances is a friend from church and one of the café volunteers and she lives up near the old fort. She wanted Nix to let me off my lead but that was never going to happen so I remained tethered. It’s not my fault if I get over excited in new places but I really do need to investigate every room and empty any rubbish bins etc. The garden looked very inviting too, lot of stones to dig up and foxes in the corner. I did go to sleep in the end but I feel I’ve been thwarted in my endeavou

Nix’s Birthday Today… 🎉🥳🐾🐾

Image
It’s Nix’s Birthday today and she’s already had loads of messages. Thank you all and she is going to look at them all later and will write and thank everyone. At the moment she’s had too much Prosecco so don’t expect too much from this blog 🙄🤣 The day started as usual except it was really warm and sunny. We went all the way to the old fort and had a slow walk home. We were quite early and there was no one around really, Nix said most sensible people were still in bed. After a short rest we set out for church. It’s Pentecost Sunday today and that’s very exciting apparently. Anyway when we got there we saw a box sitting on our pew with a rose on the top. There was a card from Sheila and Edgar and a lemon drizzle cake inside the box. That was very nice of them and then at the end if the service everyone sang happy birthday to Nix which was very lovely and made her very happy.  This afternoon we have been round to Jackie and Peter’s next door to celebrate Nix’s birthday a bit longer. I

Summer Is Here I Think…

Image
I stayed on my own for a bit last night while Nix went with some of the other neighbours to help one lady move furniture around. Down here a couple of times a year we have ‘Artist’s Open Houses’ where artists put their work on display in their own homes and a couple of our neighbours take part. Nix used to go round in Hove when we lived there just to nose round people’s houses but she did buy things too.  I’ve been quite a lucky boy today so far. We had an early morning walk on the beach and then we went into town as it was the Artisan’s Market. We bumped into our neighbour Shaun so we walked over with him, he was going to buy special tea. We came back through the churchyard so that was very enjoyable especially as it wasn’t yet 10am 🙂 We’ve been to Buckingham Park this afternoon and I have learned two more hand signals. As you know I already know the hand signals for ‘come here and get a move on’ and ‘you’re a very good boy’ though that doesn’t come up that often. I also know ‘s

The Tree In Hove Park Was A Paulownia Tree…

Image
So the beautiful tree we saw in Hove Park has turned out to be a Paulownia or Foxglove tree. Clever Trudie, Sara, Sheila and Rosslyn…Nix is very impressed 🙂 We did check with The Friends of Hove Park.  We had a lovely evening walk on the beach last night. It was really sunny and lots of the flowers on the beach were in full bloom. There were red and pink Valerian, Nix’s favourite and we have some growing wild in front of the bungalow much to her delight. There was sea kale with its white flowers…I like to do my poopies in them and then they’re really hard to find 🙂 There is the naughty silver ragwort which is a bit invasive so lots of that gets taken out to make room for the more rare plants like the yellow horned poppy. Shoreham beach is a designated nature reserve you know so we have to take care of it…we have lizards 🫢 We had another quick walk on the beach this morning before church and then just after lunch we have been to Southwick Hill which was very nice but a bit hot so we

Quiet Day For Moi Today, Nix Went To The Dentist.

Image
We had to leave home group early last night  because I was very restless. Nix thinks I might have been passing another stone so I got half a paracetamol when we got home. The group were very nice there and said they didn’t mind me wandering around but they had noisy floors when I walked on them so Nix thought it would disturb everyone and she was worried about moi obviously 🙂I went to bed as soon as we got home and I slept through the night…I’m fine today.  Rita was coming over to sit with me today while Nix went to the dentist so we walked into town to meet her. Once we got home they were chatting and drinking hot chocolate and then Nix rushed off for her dentist appt. I like to sleep on the sofa with my guest until Nix comes home but I didn’t hear her come in. It was a lovely surprise when I woke up to see her there and I was very happy even though Rita is very good company. It was the breeze on my face when the front door opened that woke me up. Nix has very clean teeth now and ap

Brooklands Park Today And I Got Just A Bit Smelly…Apparently 🫢

Image
Nix has mended my toys that I accidentally ripped the stuffing out of. Who knew she actually owned a sewing box though it may have seen the light of day when she unsuccessfully tried to fix my coat which kept sliding off. There was a lot of tutting, the cotton was too thin, the eye of the needle was too small, the stuffing kept falling out. Miraculously she has repaired both of them and they do look okay but I’m not holding my breath. The decapitated Alpaca from Petra and Therese was the most difficult apparently. The rabbit from Kathleen and Marshall was easier but she couldn’t hide the bad sewing because the hair wasn’t long enough.  Nix will probably post photos so best to just humour her and say they look really good and you’d never know they had been repaired. It’s not really a proper lie, you’d just be being kind 😇 We’ve been to Brooklands Park this afternoon. I’m still not allowed in the big lake because some fish died and they’re not sure how safe it is but there is the other
