The Adventures of Fripp

  It’s been an interesting day if you call going back to the decorators’ shop again interesting. Actually it was a very quick visit just to get some paint for the windows and the doors of the summerhouse so I didn’t mind too much even though Nix has been out all morning. She went off to Ladies that Breakfast in Southwick and Rachel my dog sitter came and sat with me. She took me for a lovely walk down the beach and then we just relaxed together on the sofa and watched TV. I wasn’t invited to the ladies’ breakfast not because I’m a dog but because I’m not a lady. Nix still got an invite I notice, I’m saying nothing 🤣 My friend Sheila was doing the talk and she was very good apparently, she talked about the town where we live becoming dementia friendly. I don’t really know what that means but apparently it’s a very good thing. Nix gave the Revd Jess and Jill a lift to the ladies’ breakfast and Jill came back with her for tea which was very nice.  I’m having a kip, I’ve left Nix in charge 😱 We set off early this morning for Friday morning meditation and had time for a bit of a stroll along the beach. When we finally arrived at church Nix overdid it on the hand sanitiser and that made me sneeze. I’ve realised that not only do I not like her sneezing but I don’t like me sneezing either…it was very scary. Tea and croissants to follow…very nice thank you very much 😋 Next was the vet visit to get my platelets checked…again. The blood will be sent off to the lab and Bron will get in touch probably Tuesday with the results. If my figures have gone down again they have instructions to call Bron immediately who will be in the country and she will call Nix and I’ll probably get diagnosed with autoimmune thrombocytopenia again. Nix asked about the platelets clumping and Bron explained that there is always more or less the same amount of platelets in the clumps so if my figures go down then they are definitely going down.   I have three beds as you know and I have slept in all of them today. I’ve also slept on Nix‘s bed with the help of my new footstool and I’ve also slept on the bed in the spare room. As you can tell there’s been a lot of sleeping going on today on my part and not a lot of walking which frankly isn’t really good enough. This morning we had a quick walk on the Rec as we had to pick Nix’s friend Lizzie up from the station. We bumped into my friend Gracie who comes to meditation and Nix wanted to get a photo of us together. She kept calling me and trying to get my attention but I had a feeling there was something quite interesting in the undergrowth. I had my head stuck in there for ages trying to ignore Nix calling me and suddenly I found it, a broken ball. I’m not really interested in balls but I do like broken balls. In the end Nix took the photo of Gracie and Jane and a random photo bombing Cockerpoo 🙂 Then we stopped off to pick up some lunch for Nix and Lizzie and Nix decided to

  Nix has been very busy today I hardly know where to start but I’ll probably start by having a little rest as I’m exhausted just watching her! It all started after our morning walk. As soon as she’d had her breakfast out came the stepladders and the tin of paint and she was off. She hadn’t got very far before she decided that this was going to be very boring but she was determined to continue. I’m quite impressed really as she’s got one of the walls done already and I think it looks very nice. It still has to have a second coat and when the windows are painted white I think it will be very smart indeed and I shall very much like to nap in there. I am unsure of Nix on the step ladders but she tells me she only needs one hand to paint and she has the other one to hold on to the roof 🙏 Just before we set out for the woods at Southwick Hill guess what arrived...my footstool to help me on the bed.  We didn’t go to the beach this morning, we walked across the footbridge into town to collect my antibiotics. They were too big to go through our letterbox so we had to go to the sorting office to collect them. The man there was very nice and he knew I was a Beardie, he used to have one too. I have to say they were a bit squashed, the postman may as well have pushed him through our letterbox. I quite enjoyed the change of walking into town though, lots of other dogs to meet.  I had a bit of a nap and then we set off to the decorators shop. I’m very bored going there but hopefully this is the last time. Nix is still not sure about the paint colour but she said she’s not going back again so it will have to do. She’ll paint some of it tomorrow and you can see.  From there as we were already in Hove we drove up to Hove Park for our walk and a cup of tea and a muffin. Nix rather selfishly chose a blueberry muffin and then wasn’t sure whether I was allowed to eat blueberries or not. She had

 Today has been a lovely relaxing day, I even fell asleep in church. When I woke up Bollo was across the aisle but I was very brave and only moved back a meter or so 🙂 We were ages in the church hall afterwards having tea and biscuits, I really don’t know what everyone finds to talk about. Afterwards we walked home and it was just like summer.  I know Nix is worried about my platelets because they’ve gone down again. Bron my vet called Nix when we were on our way to church to tell her. I don’t have to start on the steroids yet thank goodness but I have to have another test in two weeks and if they’ve gone down again I guess I’ll be diagnosed with autoimmune thrombocytopenia like last time. I didn’t like taking the steroids because they made me very tired and I was younger then. I also lost a lot of hair especially from my tail which was a bit of a disaster.  This morning the summerhouse got sanded down in preparation for Nix to paint it. Thereby lies another drama because she’s now decided she doesn’t like this colour either. We are closer to what she actually wants and she feels that just one more look at the colour chart and she’ll have it off perfectly. She thinks this one is a bit too powder blue and she wants it to look more seasidy so a slight touch of grey. She said her arm ached after just paining the bit in the photo so I can see this taking a long time 🙄 We wanted to tell you about Nathan who came to sand the summerhouse. We haven’t met him before but Nix thought he was a very charming young man. He told Nix that he and his girlfriend have lost three babies and they were really desperate to have a child of their own. All of the babies had names because they were not too far off being born and so they had to have three funerals too. Nix said she wanted to cry but he was such an upbeat young man she tried to stay strong. Nix thou

 I have been busy, busy, busy... but not necessarily in a good way. First of all I got woken up at 5:30am so Nix could go out into the garden and look for planets. Apparently they were going to be four all in a line which doesn’t happen very often. I wouldn’t mind but you can’t actually see anything, they just look like stars 🙄 Anyway they were too low in the sky to see over the houses so we then had to get ready and get out to the beach so we could look for them over the sea. Guess what, when we got there there were too many clouds so she couldn’t see them anyway. We finished our walk as we were there anyway and then went home. I am of course used to quite a long nap when we get home from our walks. It was rather annoying to be woken half an hour after we got back so we could set out again for meditation in the church. I slept through all of that and I almost slept through the croissants afterwards…but not quite 😋 After meditation I thought at last I can get a decent sleep but o
