 Did you know there’s a lot of Christmas films on TV at the moment, Nix really likes them and it’s difficult to drag her away and get a decent walk. They’re always set in America and there’s always a girl who goes from her job in the city and travels back to her hometown for various reasons but it always ends the same with her falling in love. There are usually cupcakes involved and the girl ends up moving back to her hometown and getting married. Nix loves the houses there, they are always made with wood and they are covered in Christmas lights and Nix wants to visit one of these towns one day.  Anyway it was Sainsbury’s day today and I am a little disappointed that they didn’t bring my beans. That’s okay though because we shall have to walk into town and buy some fresh ones so an extra walk for me if I can drag Nix away from ‘Christmas at Holly Lodge’ 🙄 She was disappointed too because she said she’d get a Christmas cake for the church’s Christmas Fair and can you believe S...

 Nix’s new water bottle seemed to do the job last night. She said it kept the water nice and cool and there were no spillages thank goodness. She managed to take her medication with it this morning so all is well and she will no longer be able to complain about Sainsburys bringing the wrong sort of bottles 🙂  This morning was icy everywhere and Nix definitely didn’t want to get out of bed. This was self preservation I guess as she can fall over even when it’s not slippy. There is only so long a Beardie can wait for their morning walk though and Nix just wasn’t getting it. In the end I had to resort to grabbing the ‘out of bounds’ Beardie toy as I knew that would get her attention. Initially it didn’t work but I moved on to the constant barking whilst holding the toy in my mouth and that seemed to do the trick 😇 I was going to wear my new fleece but actually it wasn’t very cold at all.  We went down to the sea because the boardwalk was too slippy and I was allowed off m...

 Last night we had fish and chips, well I just had the fish because apparently chips aren’t very good for dogs. There must be some dogs out there who are allowed chips, please send us a comment and then Nix will have to give me some. I was going to start a petition but I have quite a few on the go already.  The best news of the evening was that our local food store are allowing dogs inside so I was able to go in wiith Nix to get milk.  We weren’t going to go to church this morning because it was so cold last week. As you know we have to have all the doors open because of he virus thingy and we sit right at the back where there is more room for moi. It was very sunny when we woke up so Nix decided we could still go and she would wrap up nice and warm…I’m not being funny but I have to sit next to her 🙄 We had the tea and biscuits afterwards in the church hall and I got lots of cuddles. Most of the morning has been taken up with Nix trying to buy a reusable water bottle. I mean how difficult can that be? Well it would seem in Nix‘s case, very difficult indeed. It has to be the right size, made out of the right material and most important of all have a screwtop. It also of course has to be a colour that she likes and one that she will be able to see in the dark. This is all because of an accident the other night where she tipped an entire glass of water all over the bed in the dark. I think she fell asleep with it in her hand but she insists that’s not true. How a full glass of water got as far as the bed before it was tipped over we shall never know but suffice it to say it went through the duvet, the bottom sheet, the mattress cover, the topper but thankfully didnt quite make it to the mattress.  I am very tired and I’ve gone to bed for a rest. We had a very early start with a walk along the beach before meditation at 8am. Then we all go round to the parish centre for coffee and croissants, well decaf tea and croissants for Nix as she likes to be different. We were invited back to Sheila’s flat afterwards and then by the time we got home it was quite late. I went straight to bed without eating which always worries Nix but I just didn’t feel like it, that’s all. I’ve eaten now so need for anyone to worry 🙂 This afternoon we have been to the beach to watch the waves. Storm Arwen is on its way but not down here where we live. Even so the wind was very strong and the waves quite big. Nix makes me stay away when they are like that because she doesn’t want me washed out to sea. I played with my meerkat when we got back. Nix bought it for me when I was very sick in hospital. It has her tears on it, I can still smell them 🥰 I have to say that Nix’s hair turned out okay yesterday...

 Today Nix and I are very sad for Jan Cobley.  Cleo her wonderful medic alert dog for so many years sadly went to the bridge in the early hours of this morning.  Cleo was absolutely brilliant at knowing when Jan was going to get sick and she could alert her so she could deal with it. They went everywhere together but recently while Cleo has been fading Jan has had to go alone. We know Cleo will still be  watching over you Jan even though you can’t see her. Nix and I went for a lunchtime wander mainly because I was bored and didn’t want to wait until 2pm when we were meeting Indie for a walk. After some time of staring Nix finally did her usual, “Oh for goodness sake, I might as well just stop what I’m doing and take you out…” She’d actually got her coat on before she remembered she’d been trying to glam up her hair and still had all those foil thingies in.  Nix has been very annoying just lately. First of all she loses the thingy that goes with the smart meter. It’s the thing that tells you how much energy you’ve used and it plugs into the wall. How can anyone lose something that plugs into the wall. She’s been searching high and low huffing and puffing and then just as she was about to order a new one she found it. Don’t even ask where it was because it was in exactly the same place it had always been, still plugged into the wall but had fallen flat on its face and ‘looked different’ I do give up sometimes.   Next we have her decision to be more tidy. This is because a neighbour called unexpectedly and the place looked like a tip. It always looks like a tip but Nix tidies up before visitors arrive. So she decided to start in the morning with the making of the bed and most importantly the laying out of the t shirt she wears in bed instead of just shoving it under the pillows.  We headed west down the beach this morning and the BCJ has only ever been spotted once down there so I was allowed my freedom. I ran all the way along the boardwalk and ‘did the poopies’ into a sea kale. By the time Nix caught up it had long since ‘disappeared’ under the leaves and try as she might she could not find it. That’s probably because I didn’t actually do it there,  it was one of my faux poos 😇 One of the other dog walkers had to tell her I was actually doing it over by the beach huts. The boardwalk finishes there so Nix wasn’t happy having to ‘gallop’ over the pebbles so she could spot exactly where it was. All ablutions finished we continues to head west along the beach. There were no dogs down there, Nix said this is because most sensible dog owners with dogs who actually behave themselves choose to go east and use the boardwalk. Nix is not an owner with a well behaved dog so west it was. No cafes down there though, I didn’t mind but Nix missed her cup of tea....
