The Adventures of Fripp

 Nix has decided that Sundays are really boring. The mornings are okay because we see our friends at church and afterwards for coffee but the afternoon is always a bit quiet. Today we went to the little caravan café at the airport and watched the planes…that’s how bored we were. Things brightened up a bit when I was able to have a dip in the river and cool down. Perhaps Nix should come for a dip in the river too…I did suggest it but she said, “No chance!”  Nix is still annoyed that people keep saying how much younger I look and so much slimmer since I had my hair cut. I think Nix wishes it was that easy for her. I’ve told her she needs to leave off the lemon drizzle cake. Some of us can eat cake and never get fat, some of us can’t 🤣  She’s managed not to trip over the vacuum again but that’s probably because the vacuum hasn’t actually been out…I think we need a cleaner 🙂 She’s also trying to fix the blind in the bedroom, the cord came loose and she can’t seem to get it to work proper

 There might have been a bit of a humping incident last night in our street. We bumped into one of our neighbours who is very nice and she was walking her greyhound. Now as you know I really like greyhounds, I mean really really like them and they make me go a bit mad and I start jumping around and whimpering and my tail wags a lot which doesn’t happen that often. Nix, spoilsport that she is wouldn’t let me get too close but I was so excited that l managed to swerve and launch myself at the owner. Nix dragged me off quite quickly and I think our neighbour just thought I was jumping up to say hello and I’m not quite sure what I was doing. Whatever it was I think I got away with it 😇 This morning we went to low tide on the beach. Nix said the water was very warm so when we got home she went back down to have a dip. She only flaps around on that board thingie but it still uses lots of muscles she doesn’t normally use so there has been much groaning every time she has to reach for somethi

  It’s very very hot again today but it wasn’t too hot this morning so I got an extra long walk on the beach before prayer and meditation over in the church. I slept through that as usual, it’s quite boring for a dog but Nix seems to really enjoy it if you call balling your eyes out enjoying it…apparently it’s a spiritual thing 🙄 Afterwards we move over to the parish centre for our breakfast and that means croissants 👏👏👏 I have to wait until Nix has almost finished hers and then I get the last bit…it’s always worth the wait 😋 We both fell asleep when we got back. By the time we woke up it was early afternoon and much too hot to go for a walk but I did manage to persuade Nix to drive us over to the Goring woods. Nix gets the car started and let’s it cool down before we get in it. We are able to park right next to the woods under the trees so the car stayed nice and cool. It is also very close to the beach so I got to have a paddle too. Unfortunate the caravan wasn’t there with the

  Nix and I are taking it easy today. Nix recovered very well from the trek down to the cafe at Devil’s Dyke. She managed to get down a very steep path with very loose stones and then back up again and miraculously managed to stay on her feet. She was not however able to stay on her feet when she was hoovering the bungalow this morning. Somehow she managed to get her foot caught in the hoover cable and went flying. She landed on her knee and her head just missed the edge of the table. She’s fine, no need to worry and I still got my walk to the river but we didn’t go as far as planned...I don’t mind it’s quite hot again.  We have had another intruder digging up the garden…Nix is laying on the bed so she can watch out for it. I am innocently asleep minding my own business but I shall watch out for it too 😇 It’s very warm and Nix keeps falling asleep. I shouldn’t be surprised if the intruder comes back and Nix sleeps right through it 🫣

 We’ve done quite a lot today to make up for a couple of quiet days. We had our normal walk along the beach first thing but by 11am Nix was ready to go out again…I’m not complaining 🙂  First of all we went by our old pet shop in Hove to buy poo bags. Nix likes them because a) they have pretty colours, b) they smell nice and c) she can tie them to my lead save carrying them on walks. While we were there I got three of my favourite sausages and some gravy bones to take home.  Next came the best bit, I thought we would be going back home but Nix took us to Devil’s Dyke my all time favourite place. I love it there because there are so many places to go. We just have to avoid the cows because they roam loose and Nix is scared of them…I’m not 🙂 At the bottom of the Dyke there is a working sheep farm so we don’t usually go anywhere near there for obvious reasons but today Nix decided we could go to the café there for a late breakfast.  Funny old day today. We had to go out very early because the man was coming to fix our summerhouse roof since some tiles blew off in the storm five months ago. I’ve decided humans aren’t always that bright. When they first replaced the tiles they put the wrong colour on. They told Nix they would darken in time which we all knew wasn’t going to happen. Anyway he came back today with the new tiles and when he placed the first one on Nix told him it looked exactly the same as the ones he’d just taken off. There was some huffing and puffing and talk of it maybe being a bit dusty and then he realised he’d put it on the wrong way up. As I say… humans 🙄 As it seemed the roof man was going to take a long time Nix decided we should go for a walk. We couldn’t take the car because Nix had told the chap he could park in the drive and now we couldn’t get the car out. Instead we had a wander down by the houseboats. You’ve already seen some of the lovely quirky ones so I thought I’d show you a coup

 Tracy came to visit today and she brought lovely flowers for Nix as a thank you for doing her highlights. Humans can be very strange I find, well especially Nix. She was talking to Tracy about something unmentionable that happens to humans and was saying she thought it was because she breathed in as she drank. Tracy then said that she thought she always breathed in when she drank.  They then both tried drinking without breathing in. It was not a pretty sight and I don’t want to see it again. It involved lots of coughing and spluttering and to be honest I think I prefer the unmentionable thing whatever that is. I didn’t hear Tracy leave, Nix said she did call me but I didn’t wake up. She said my hearing is going a little and that will be a good thing because I won’t be able to hear the noisy skies 🙂 Shall we move onto medical issues?
