Devil’s Dyke Yay πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We’ve done quite a lot today to make up for a couple of quiet days. We had our normal walk along the beach first thing but by 11am Nix was ready to go out again…I’m not complaining πŸ™‚

First of all we went by our old pet shop in Hove to buy poo bags. Nix likes them because a) they have pretty colours, b) they smell nice and c) she can tie them to my lead save carrying them on walks. While we were there I got three of my favourite sausages and some gravy bones to take home.

Next came the best bit, I thought we would be going back home but Nix took us to Devil’s Dyke my all time favourite place. I love it there because there are so many places to go. We just have to avoid the cows because they roam loose and Nix is scared of them…I’m not πŸ™‚

At the bottom of the Dyke there is a working sheep farm so we don’t usually go anywhere near there for obvious reasons but today Nix decided we could go to the cafΓ© there for a late breakfast. Now the clue is in ‘at the bottom’ that farm is a long way down. The path is tricky with lots of loose stones but miraculously Nix got down in one piece. She was trying not to think about climbing back up again, said it would spoil her breakfast πŸ™„ On the way I saw some sheep sheltering the shade but I was very well behaved.

When we got to the cafΓ© there was a very annoying lady there. She had a black Labrador type on a very long lead and when we were waiting to be served she was letting it roam all over the place. It didn’t bother me that much but it was a bit annoying. Nix was trying to get past with a mug of hot tea and the dog was flying around being generally annoying. When we finally managed to find a table and sit down she came and tied the dog up to the table right next to ours. We got up and moved and then she had to untie the dog anyway because he pulled the table over. Nix had words, not that it made much difference. After we’d been there for a while a really nice lady came with her dog. He was quite old and not always that friendly she said so we kept our distance. Guess who didn’t though, Nix said she was one of the most annoying humans she’s met in a long time and she kept letting her dog go right up to the older dog who was on a very short lead. In the end we moved tables again and sat right in the corner in the shade away from everyone.

Nix had started to think about the climb back up and I could tell she wasn’t looking forward to it. She toyed with the idea of calling a cab to take us back to the car park but thankfully there was no phone signal. There was an animal ambulance parked outside the farm and I know if the driver had been in it she would have asked for a lift πŸ™„ Anyway we set off up the hill and can you believe that Nix made it to the top without stopping once. She was so pleased with herself

and has spent the last hour going, “I can’t believe I did that!”

On the way home we stopped at the garden centre to buy some soil to fill in the hole in the garden where some sort of wildlife had dug it up. Nix spent too long watching the Koi carp because she said she really missed the ones that she had in London especially Violetta πŸ™„ She also saw a clock she wanted to get to put in the garden…I’m sorry but who puts clocks in gardens πŸ™„
