The Adventures of Fripp

 There were flashing skies last night, I don’t like them. I am not scared of course because I am a warrior but they do annoy me because they keep me awake. No floors were harmed during the incident as Nix was too quick for me.  We had an early start this morning as is per usual on a Friday. The sun was coming up and even though it was only 6.30am the swimming ladies were entering the sea…it sounded very cold 🥶 Nix had promised me a treat for this afternoon as I hadn’t damaged any flooring during the night. The skies were bright and we headed over to the Bluebird Café in Ferring. I enjoy the walk there because there are lots of people and dogs to meet and usually a yummy lunch to follow. There was no rain and the sun even came out for us. We had our lunch in the big tent because it was very hot by then. I was surprised at how many people were sitting outside with their dogs, I think humans can be a bit selfish sometimes.  Nix is still putting stuff on EBay, today it is he...

 Well we’re having a very quiet day today. We had quite a late night last night because Nix had her PCC meeting and of course I go too. We got absolutely soaked on the way there but I didn’t mind. I had my raincoat on so it was mainly my head and my legs…I still fell asleep as soon as we got there. When I’m in my bed I like to lay my head on the floor, I do that even in the big beds.  Today we have just been to the beach for a mooch around. Nix snuck out to the post office while I was asleep, she thinks I didn’t notice but I did, just couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it. When Nix does go out she never stays out for long so I am quite happy in fact I quite like being in charge of the house. Nix thinks she might have clicked on a button on Facebook because she’s suddenly got lots of notices saying a lot of people have accepted her request to follow moi. Honestly as if people need to be asked but anyway she says sorry if it’s been annoying for everyone. I told her people...

  So my name is Fripp Cuthell and I am an addict. I am addicted to digging, I just can’t help myself. I’m sorry for fooling all of you into thinking there was an intruder, that was very bad of me. I am now attending weekly meetings in Nix’s garden where I am receiving a weird sort of therapy which involves water from the hose. I have also learned a special prayer that I have to say every morning. It goes like this… ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.’  Now I don’t see any mention in there of hosepipes do you so I’m beginning to wonder. Just to be on the safe side Nix has surrounded the trachelospermum with plant pots so I can’t get near it. Nix has been growing it for four years and it flowered for the first time this year, just a few, nix is expecting it to be covered in flowers next year and she says she won’t be responsible for her actions if I kill it.  I’ve ha...

 Ooh it’s very wet and windy today. That’s a shame because it means my walks are a bit shorter. It was windy last night on our last walk of the evening but it didn’t rain but today we have both. Nix doesn’t like the wind and rain together but I’m just glad that the skies have stopped flashing.  We went to the café this morning and we very nearly got blown over. It rained the whole time we were in there and just stopped long enough when we left for us have a little walk and get home. It was lovely to have Sheila and Edgar help us this morning. They have both been very supportive of the café and we love them very much. They are looking after a Cocker Spaniel called Monty at the moment so he came to visit too.  When we got home we had a lovely surprise. Our friend Paul had just turned up and had got rid of all the weeds that had grown between the paving stones on the front drive.  I did not like last night, there were flashing lights in the sky and they wouldn’t stop. I was so scared even digging up the floor didn’t help and I might have wee’d myself a bit. Nix said she had never seen thunder and lightning like it because it was constant. Nix thought it might tire me out and I would sleep through the storm…no chance. We walked all through the churchyard and I ate some Pellitron. Nix stood in front of a lamp and it made a spooky shape on the wall of the church. Anyway it was just getting dark and the bridge was all lit up and it looked very pretty.  Guess what, when we got home from church this morning we were just getting out of the car on the drive when the whole sky lit up brightly. I don’t usually like that sort of thing but because it was daylight I didn’t really notice it. Shortly after that there were apparently some very loud bangs in the sky. Nix rushed me inside because if truth be known she’s really scared of them too but I didn’t hear a thing. I’m quite glad about that because we don’t want both of us to be scared, someone has to be in charge and of course that person should be me 🙂 This afternoon it was a bit gloomy so we set out for the airport. We used to walk there via the houseboats but we drive part way there now. This is because Nix can’t manage the whole walk any longer, it’s a bit too much for her especially if it’s hot. She will try to make out it’s me that gets tired but this simply isn’t true. Nix decided to treat herself to a hamburger as we didn’t really have any lunch in and I was quite envious. It...

 It’s been very hot today so we haven’t been too far. This morning we took a walk up the boardwalk before it got too hot. Nix actually took a photo of the boardwalk without me on it because she thought it looked ‘arty’ 🙄 I have tried to explain that in general, people would prefer a photo of the boardwalk with me on it 🙂 Just before lunch we went up to the old fort to watch the Heritage Open Days Festival…that was very interesting. There were a lot of old fashioned armoured vehicles which I should have like to inspect but it was too hot and there were also lots of soldiers dressed in WW1 uniforms. We stayed in the shade while we had a look round, Nix took some photos for you to see.  This afternoon we went to the river so I could cool off and then we came home across the Rec. It wasn’t very busy because I expect everyone was on the beach. Nix might go for a ‘swim’ later when the tide goes out a bit.  We have over one hundred olives on our two olive trees, shame Nix can’...
