The Adventures of Fripp

  Well I’m slightly bored today. As you know they are giving our area new gas pipes and we had to wait in for the man to come and turn our boiler back on. It’s been really cold today and we haven’t had any heating so Nix has been wrapped up in her throw. She feels a lot better today but wasn’t very happy being cold. Anyway the man has just been and everything is working and the heating is on so we can get nice and warm now. Nix wasn’t sure whether he’d appreciate having to go up into the loft to get to the boiler but he didn’t mind. He did have to take the mirror off the wall though so the trap door could open and he didn’t put it back up. Took Nix ages to get it back up on the hook, she was getting really annoyed. Did you know Nix has never been up into the loft, she’s scared of the ladder 🫣 We had the café at church this morning after missing a couple of weeks due to Nix having Covid and then a wedding last Tuesday.  Nix has called the doctor and she’s on a short course of antibiotics. I think we’re all relieved and now maybe we can both get some sleep.  This is good news of course but the best news is… the BCJ is moving today. We couldn’t get onto our drive when we got back from cleaning the church because the gas men had blocked it off. We took a detour down Old Fort Road and Nix spotted the removal van immediately. After last time though when there was a small van but they never moved we wanted to be sure. We went back later and all the packing cases were piled up on the drive. Nix is very excited, I’m rather disappointed, I enjoyed the odd tussle but I know Nix found it quite stressful. We don’t know where they’re going but we’re going to assume it’s a long long way away.  So the gas men are here and we thought it would be very noisy but it hasn’t been too bad.  Good evening all, yes good evening, we are a little late. This will be Nix’s fault because can you believe she got caught up tidying the garden and then she completely forgot about it.  The Covid cough saga goes on. Nix decided to buy some cough mixture yesterday and the pharmacist put the fear of God into her telling her she needed antibiotics as she could get pneumonia. She told Nix to call 111 when she got home. This she did and after about 30 minutes someone came to speak to her. They asked her loads of questions to which the answer was no each time. They told her they would hand the details on to the clinical team and someone would call her back. This was 7pm last night and basically no one called. We went to bed about 10.30pm and still no calls in the morning. Nix decided that it obviously wasn’t urgent and decided to call the doctor in the morning to check with him. Meanwhile, while Nix was out in the garden this afternoon they called but Nix still had her phone switch...

 Well the new bed arrived this morning, Nix was very excited about it which just goes to show, she really does need to get some kind of life 🤣🤣🤣 She took some photos but I know she won’t post them because she was too lazy to iron the bed linen and frankly it doesn’t look that pristine. She got a free mattress protector when she bought the bed and she only realised when she was putting it on that it’s a waterproof one. One of the of the places we rented when the bungalow was being done up had one of those and we did not like it as it made us too hot in the night. She’s had to put it on until the new cotton one arrives so tonight should be interesting. I don’t want to get too personal but with all the coughing that’s been going on, she’ll probably be glad of it 🤣🤣🤣 Tracy came to visit and I got lots of cuddles…I like that. She has a new rescue dog called Rupert and next time she visits she will bring him and we can go out for a walk together. He’s a Havanese crossed they think ...

 Nix has lost her voice but fortunately she is still able to type. Having said that she’s been laying on the sofa all day looking really sorry for herself so she will take some persuading methinks 🤔 To be fair she hasn’t slept much over the last few nights as I well know…too much coughing and she says now she’s just catching up during the day. Every time I get up and go and check she is asleep on the sofa under the fleece that Anne Floyd sent and she looks so comfortable I haven’t woken her up. It’s 3pm now and I’m thinking I can hold on for a few more hours.  We did manage to get over to prayer and  meditation this morning, Nix had to take her own mug because of the dreaded cold sores which have since reappeared.  First there was one, then three and then none and now four. Nix can’t decide whether they’re all the same ones which keep disappearing and reappearing 🤣 It didn’t help that she poked one with her toothbrush last night and I don’t know if you know this bu...

 Look it’s not my fault if the wind blows from the west is it. It does mean that we can be quite a long way up the boardwalk before I get the whiff of breakfast. This entails a dash back in the opposite direction towards home which for some reason really annoys Nix.  I then get put on my lead because of my misbehaviour and Nix says as I’ve headed nearly all the way home anyway we may as well keep going. I think she’s just getting a bit lazy in her post virus thingy state and can’t wait to get home and fall asleep…again.  Speaking of falling asleep, I wish Nix would fall asleep at night when she’s meant to. I got very confused last night because she slept in the spare room which is where I go to hide when she’s coughing. I didn’t know whether to stay there or go into the main bedroom which was empty. I decided to stay and got myself behind the blinds so I couldn’t hear so much. I’ll be glad when the new bed arrives on Saturday and Nix will be back in her own bedroom…I need...

  I had to take myself off into the spare bedroom again last night because Nix was coughing too much and as you know I don’t like it. She got up three times in the night making tea and faffing around so I was glad I was in the other room. She seems much better today and hasn’t coughed so much so hopefully she is finally on the mend.  Jonathan one of our neighbours came round to help Nix move the single bed into the spare bedroom ready for the new bed arriving on Saturday. I expect I’ll have to sleep in the main bedroom until then if Nix is going to be noisy but you never know, she may be quiet tonight. That would be very nice actually because I do like to share a room with her and I miss her when I sleep alone. I think she misses me too 😪 I had a free breakfast on the beach this morning and then a free lunch when we went out again later. It’s very very windy, 60mph and Nix wasn’t going to let me off my lead but the sea was quite far out so I was released. I immediately smelle...
