We’ve Been Back to Hove Park Today…

Image
Nix’s new hat arrived from the US so thanks to Judi Carlton for making her so happy, it’s a lovely birthday present. I know that her hair annoys her in the wind so now she’s got a hat to wear to keep it out of her face. She’s been trying to take a photo of herself wearing it where she looks a lot younger than she is… might be a long wait 🫢 I’ve been wearing my ‘deaf dog’ thingy today and I quite like it. Lots of people want to fuss me but now they take their time and wait until I’m looking before they stroke me. This way it’s not such a shock. There are some funny comments when I’m off my lead and Nix is wearing it round her neck…I mean it was asking for trouble really 🤣 This afternoon we have been to Hove Park. It’s the only bit of Hove that we miss so it was nice to go back there. Nix does keep a close eye on me when I’m off my lead but today I managed to get into a clump of bushes before she could stop me. She did try to get in too but there were low branches and nettles so s...

Bad Flooding Today ☔️

Image
So before we start shall I just remind you all that this blog is entitled ‘The Adventures of Fripp’ not ‘The Adventures of Nix’s Trip to the Hairdressers’  Nice as Nix’s new haircut is I’m not sure it should be getting quite so much attention. I am off to the groomers soon so you can save your compliments for moi 😉 Do you remember the saga of the Western Union money order that dear Ginny Tennyson sent from America to buy me a new coat. Let me remind you…Nix took it to the local post office who wouldn’t cash it  and they sent her to the main post office. They couldn’t cash it and sent her to the bank who in turn sent her to her own branch which was 20 minutes away. They couldn’t cash it and said they didn’t know who could. Nix sent the money order back to Ginny who very kindly send some cash instead. Meanwhile Ginny couldn’t get a refund so she sent the money order back to Nix who decided she would have one more attempt at cashing it. She discovered a Western Union offic...

Strange Tapping Noise in the Church 😱

Image
Funny old day today. When we went out early it was very nice, not too hot and not too cold…perfect weather.  When we went out a bit later to the church it was all cloudy and quite cold. I slept while Nix did a bit of cleaning but there was a scary moment when Nix could hear tapping and couldn’t work out where it was coming from. Eventually she realised it was a little girl standing outside the church and tapping on the window. Nix tapped back and they waved at each other. I think maybe she could see all the toys in there.  We’ve been to Brooklands this afternoon and they still haven’t finished the café 😕There is a horesebox selling tea and coffee but no drizzle cake so we didn’t bother and it was getting hot again. I did manage a paddle in the lake which has been out of bounds because some fish had died but it seems it’s okay now. I have a new trick which I find amusing. As you know Nix spends most of our walk thinking she’s going to lose me. This is all because I like ...

Last night was horrible, I was very scared because the sky kept lighting up. Apparently it was very noisy too but I couldn’t hear that. Nix put the light on and sat with me but every time she went back to bed I jumped up and started to dig. I dug in the bathroom, my favourite place and I dug in the corner of the bedroom. In the end Nix was desperate to get back to sleep so she put my collar and lead on me and went back to bed and every time I starred digging she gave a bit of a tug. We were up for quite a few hours, Nix wasn’t amused because she was tired from all the galivanting over the last few days and she just wanted to go to sleep. Eventually all went quiet but unfortunately it was almost time to get up.  It’s been raining on and off today so apart from our trip to church when it was nice and sunny, we’ve only been round the block. We did take in a bit of the beach but I had to stay on my lead because it was a bit busy and as you know I don’t hear too well these days. I...

Kathleen and Marshall Have Gone Off on Their Cruise 🛳️

Image
I’m not sure but I think we’ve done with all the socialising now. Last night we went out with Kathleen and Marshall for dinner and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. When we got home the humans watched an episode of The Vicar of Dibley and then our guests headed off to their hotel. Nix and I would like to thank Kathleen and Marshall for their generosity both to Nix and myself and wish them bon voyage on their cruise.  This morning Tracy came to visit and we all went for a walk  into town. Nix and Tracy had scrambled eggs on toast and I got the dogs water bowl poured over me to help me keep cool. Note to Nix, if you pour water over a Beardie they are going to shake regardless of whether their are other humans having their breakfast nearby.  Nix is very pleased with herself as she managed to buy the last cheap dry robe from the Cancer Reasearch charity shop. It was very cheap, Nix thinks it’s because the pocket isnt quite in the middle 🙂 I expect she’ll want to be ...

Buckingham Park…

Image
It’s been a very busy day again today so I’ve told Nix she can just post some photos and just tell you a little about our day. In a nutshell Kathleen and Marshall met us at St Mary’s for prayer and meditation and coffee and croissants afterwards. We had a drive to Buckingham Park after lunch for a meander under the trees and we stopped at the café and everyone had lemon drizzle cake. This afternoon our new friend Linda has come round and we’re all in the garden relaxing. Tonight we will go out for dinner and tomorrow all will be back to normal…

Kathleen and Marshall Came to Visit 🙂

Image
It’s very late isn’t it…sorry. This is because Nix was meant to write the blog before we went out but decided she’d do it when we got back…after one spritzer…never going to happen. We’re here finally but sorry we are so late…it’s been a busy day.  This morning we went over into town to meet our new friend Linda and we had croissants 😋 Nix looked up at one point and thought she saw Rev Andrew walking towards us. “Hello” she went only to be completely ignored. “Hello Andrew” she said upon which the bemused man explained that he wasn’t Andrew but his twin brother and not to worry as it happened all the time. Apparently they’re not identical but with Nix’s face blindness they looked exactly the same. He was very polite and didn’t seem to mind at all but Nix was mortified.  This afternoon Kathleen and Marshall came to visit from Indianapolis and we all sat in the garden. They brought me a new toy which is probably a very good idea because the lilac rabbit they bought me last...
