Brooklands Park With Trish

Nix and I had a very good night last night. She went to bed at about 10.30pm and I was already asleep in another room. After she finished reading, she opened the door to the garden and turned the light out. She went straight to sleep you know without a care in the world about me. Having said that she did wake up at 2 am and wonder where I was. She got out of bed and did a tour of the bungalow but I was nowhere to be seen. Guess what? I was asleep in the garden and guess what again, she left me there. She then went back to bed and went to sleep again and when she woke up this morning, I was asleep in the lounge in my bed. This regime seems to work well for all parties  concerned so unless it’s raining I think we shall make it a permanent fixture.  Although the open door method is working well, Bron my vet has been in touch and has recommended something called Xanax which we might try. I would take it just as the sun is setting to help me relax during the night. I am on q...

Adur Rec Today…

I really don’t understand humans sometimes. They make something that should be really simple very very difficult. For instance, I have been waking Nix up on numerous occasions during the night because I want to go out. She gets up, she opens the door, she makes herself a cup of tea and then after about 20 minutes she comes and gets me and I go back indoors and go back to bed. An hour or so later I might want to do the same again and then again maybe. I should’ve thought it was fairly obvious that I need to be able to go outside when I want to go outside. Finally last night the penny dropped but not before she shut me out of the bedroom. That didn’t last long because she felt guilty so she let me in again and let me out into the garden. She then decided she would just leave the garden door open all night long….finally the penny drops. Yes, the door happens to be in her bedroom and yes it probably will be a bit cold but she’s got the electric blanket. Once the door was permanently o...

Egg And Chips Today 😋

We haven’t really walked that far today. This morning I chose to go a different way to the beach which meant our first walk was quite a bit shorter. I did get a little walk after communion but once I got home I did sleep for quite a long time. Nix says I was tired because I’d been up in the night digging 🫢  Nix has worked out a new routine. She said as I’m obviously going to be waking her up every night, instead of getting out of bed and putting her dressing gown on and going into the other room to open the doors she will now open the door in the bedroom which she can do without even getting out of bed. The only reason she didn’t do this before was because that makes the bedroom really cold. She said she will do it this way now and put the electric blanket on to keep her warm. So…in the early hours of this morning I woke her up and she just leaned across and opened the door and can you believe it, went back to sleep! I tried staring through the door but it didn’t work. She ...

Busy Overseeing The Churchwardens 🙂😴

Well Nix has had a very busy day...me, well I’ve slept a lot. Nix says this is because I didn’t sleep very much last night and it’s my fault she is so tired. I really wanted to go out just now and can you believe she was fast asleep on the sofa. The really annoying thing is that now she’s got the new rug my claws don’t make the clicking noise which I use to wake her up in the middle of the night. Last night she thought she was being very clever by reducing my time out in the garden. You see this is how it goes…I click my claws on the bedroom floor and she wakes up and lets me out in the garden.  I have a long drink from the rainwater bowl and then I stargaze for a little while…saw Cassiopeia last night,  vert interesting. Anyway, after I’ve done my stargazing I like to go down the side return and dig up the paving stones. After about 20 minutes Nix comes down and beckons me in and I go back to bed. I usually sleep then for a few more hours before the whole thing starts ...

Widewater Lagoon Today 🙂

I have had a lovely time today. I slept for most of the time in church which was a good thing as Nix had lots of jobs to do before the service started. When we had coffee afterwards there were lots of paper doves and everyone is going to decorate one with a prayer. When they are all done they will be hung from the ceiling of the church. Last year it was just a paper dove but this year they have wings. It was very funny watching Nix and Liz and their friends trying to make them. Nix thought she had it all worked out but when it was finished its wings were a bit short. The others were laughing and saying it couldn’t fly which is probably true but at least it can stand up on its own. We had a lovely new friend called Frank join us for coffee, it was his first time at our church and he really joined in with the dove decorating. He is working at the airport in the college there as a lecturer. He has moved down from Scunthorpe (way up north) so coming to our church will help him make lo...

The Hedgehog Died But Barney Is The Hedgehog Hero…

Image
Nix has been asleep on the sofa this afternoon, I’m not sure if it’s anything to do with me but I think it might be because as you know I do like to go out in the middle of the night, twice usually 🫢 It’s amazing really how a very light tapping on the bedroom floor with my claws wakes her up. She has tried ignoring me in the hope I will go back to sleep but after half an hour last time she got up and let me out. She says she wouldn’t mind if I needed to do the toilet but I don’t…I just like to go out there and stare at things.  We have some sad news about the hedgehog 😥 Our neighbour who was supposed to get him and put him in a box in her garage didn’t do what she promised and didn’t let Nix know until the end of the day when it was almost dark. Nix asked again on our WhatsApp group and Barney our next door neighbour went to collect him. He said he didn’t think he was alive but he drove him all the way into Brighton to the emergency vets where they told  Barney he was...

A Walk To The Church Of The Good Shepherd This Afternoon…In The Rain 🌧️

The apple crumble turned out very nice apparently, doesn’t look too clever but tastes okay. I think Nix just needs to work on her presentation skills or buy a brown baking dish to hide the burnt bits. I don’t think apple crumble would be my thing but that’s okay, we’re off to the Parish Centre tomorrow for tea and lemon drizzle 😋 Nix bought some ready made vanilla custard so I can’t see the crumble lasting long.  We had our normal walk down the beach this morning and we have some very good news. The hedgehog had gone but it’s not what you think. Yesterday Lesley Caddick sent Nix an article on hedgehogs and guess what. Apparently at this time of the year when they want to hibernate, if they can’t find the right place then sometimes they just go to sleep on the pavement or in the road. They look dead but actually they’re not they’re just asleep and if you find one, you should put it in a box somewhere warm. So Nix wrote on the neighbours’ WhatsApp group if there was anyone bra...
