Groomers Today And A Trip To Vale Park

Image
Early start today to go to the groomers so Nix thought she’d have an early night last night. She went to bed at 10pm, I mean that’s ridiculous isn’t it. Obviously by midnight I was needing to go out and do a bit of stargazing and do you know what, she tried to ignore me. Half an hour she turned her back on me but I danced up and down on those floors until she had to get up and let me out. Actually I didn’t stay out too long and she was back asleep by around 2am 🤣 We made it to,the groomers on time and when I came out Nix took me to a park we used to visit when we lived in Hove. It made a nice change actually, it wasn’t very big but there were lots of new smells. As soon as we got home Nix decided she was going to make an apple crumble. I think there was quite a lot of work involved with peeling and coring the apples and she says she’s got repetitive strain injury…seriously 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway she says she wants to get some sort of machine that will do all the work otherwise she’s not ...

Long Walk Today…

Image
It was very sad this morning, we found a hedgehog in the middle of the pavement but Nix realised quite quickly that it had died. This was very sad and it made Nix cry a bit. She wouldn’t come back that way so we had to do a detour. It started raining too so we got really wet. Nix is hoping someone will put him somewhere nice but he’ll probably get thrown away…very sad 😪🦔 We had a long walk after lunch and I took Nix all the way to the old fort. I was fine but I think she found it a bit much, she was puffing and panting on the way back and wanting to sit down. Honestly it’s not even 2 miles 🙄 Later on this afternoon Nix sat on her glasses and broke both arms off. We have just had a walk into town to buy some more reading glasses so she could type out my blog. I think we are going to rest now until our last walk this evening though Nix is meant to be making an apple crumble. She’s bought the apples and she’s threatening to do it when she’s finished my blog 🤔 I am going to the g...

The Sky Saga Continues 🙄

Image
So the Sky saga continues 😔 The executive office called Nix back this morning but she was in communion. She called them when she got home and told them what had happened with the horrible Sky man. They were really really nice and said that first of all they were going to send her a brand new remote control with voice control so we could make sure it’s not that and they would get in touch after Nix tried it out. No sooner had Nix put the phone down to them than the subtitles popped up and she couldn’t get rid of them again. Edith came to sit with me this afternoon because Nix was going to a celebration of life. Her friend Liz who she sits with in Church lost her husband very suddenly and Nix went along to that. Edith said she didn’t mind the subtitles as she quite often uses them anyway but when Nix got home, she turned them off and they stayed off. It seems suddenly that the whole problem is cured and Nix gets a brand new remote control so all is good. It was weird how it suddenl...

Tracy Came For Lunch…

Image
So we don’t have a lot of news today apart from the fact that we had a visit from Tracy this morning. I enjoyed that because I really like her and she sat in the bungalow while Nix took me for a short walk because we were waiting for the Sky engineer and Nix didn’t want to miss him. They said he would come between 12 noon and 5pm but that is a long time for me to go without a wee. Anyway we got back and he hadn’t arrived so Tracy set off home. I did get one photo of Tracy giving me a hug. At 4.30pm the Sky man arrived. Nix said he wasn’t very friendly and walked in asking her what the problem was. She said she couldn’t get rid of the subtitles (they keep arriving each time she changes channels) so he took the remote and pressed a few buttons and of course the subtitles disappeared. Nix has been doing this hundreds of times for the last month or so and she wasn’t impressed when he said, “There you go, all sorted…”   Nix told him she did know how to do that and he said that not...

Storm Ashley Today…

Image
Well we’ve had a very wet and windy day today thanks to storm Ashley but not as bad as those up north. We hope and pray that everyone up there stays safe.  When we went out first thing the rain had stopped for a while so we didn’t get too wet. I only had a short nap before we set out for church. Nix was on welcoming duty and that means we have to get there quite a bit it earlier than normal. I generally get straight in my bed and go to sleep. When Nix is on welcoming she has to get up quite a few times to take the collection and to show people up for communion. Rita came and sat with so, I wasn’t on my own but I think Nix might have attached my long lead to the pew leg just to be certain I didn’t follow her up the aisle.  When we were having coffee afterwards I made everyone laugh because I stuck my head through the handles of Kay’s handbag and it looked like I’d got right inside her bag. It made her granddaughter laugh a lot. I got some ginger biscuit which was very nic...

Lemon Drizzle From Edith…

Image
Guess what, I didn’t wake Nix up once last night but guess what else..she woke herself up four times 🫣 She had her Covid vaccination yesterday and her arm was really sore. Every time she turned over the pain woke her up. That along with the fact that her other arm was itching so badly it was driving her mad. The best bit though was when she had a drink of water from one of those new bottles where the cap is connected to the bottle and she managed to completely miss her mouth and the water went all over the bed. I observed this from a distance, very amusing.  It was pouring with rain when we woke up so it was a quick pee and poo walk and then home but we still got soaked. I got into my bed before Nix could put a cover over it so that was soaked when I got up. She’s washed it now because she said it was a bit smelly…cheek! We went with Jackie to St. Nic’s for tea and lemon drizzle. The sun had come out by then so that was very enjoyable. There were a lot of dogs there who were...

Down By The River…

Image
It’s been quite a restful day today, Nix spent most of it thinking it was Saturday. For this reason we decided to go on our river walk like we used to do every Saturday when we lived in Hove. We went to look at the memorial for the 11 men who died in the Shoreham air crash. Nix and I were running a little late on that fateful Saturday nine years ago and so we never made it to Shoreham. We wouldn’t have been in any danger but the loud explosion on the road above us would have really scared me…I probably would have run and run. I managed a little paddle today  in the river but Nix kept me on the lead so I was safe. Remember the last time we went there and I got trapped in the river and couldn’t climb out. It was when my back legs were first going and Nix didn’t realise. A very nice man got down on his hands and knees to pull me out when his own stupid dog threw itself at me and nearly drowned me. Nix says that is a slight exaggeration as the water was only about two inches dee...
