The Adventures of Fripp

 We had a bit of a disappointment this morning. We had been very excited about going to the coffee morning fundraiser at the Shoreham RNLI Lifeboat Station. We hadn’t been there before so weren’t sure where to go. We headed towards the shop to ask but before we got halfway up the steps a not very friendly/quite rude lady said, ‘You can’t bring dogs in here…” Nix explained that we’d come for the coffee morning fundraiser and she just looked blankly at us and said it was probably upstairs. We thanked her but as we walked off she said, “You can’t take dogs in there either…”  Nix was really upset because she’d really been looking forward to it. When she was a little girl she remembers her mum putting some money in an envelope for the RNLI and she used to say it was the one charity she always gave to. It would have been nice to look round in her memory. Nix was quite upset driving home so she went in the garage and bought chocolate…lots of it. I waited on the front seat for her and...

 We got very wet this morning when we went to prayer and meditation. Nix had to put my bed in a bin liner so it would be dry when we got to church. I wore my waterproof too and we hung that over one of the pews to dry. We got even wetter on the way home so now everything is soaking wet including me as I might have taken a dip in the river too.  As you may know we have our Pet Service in a couple of weeks and Nix was trying to get the posters put up along the beach where all the dogs go for their walks. We were only able to get one spot so Nix has had the brainwave to advertise it in our front garden. We get lots of passers-by as the shops are at the end of our road as is the footbridge into town. She has ordered a floor standing holder so we can advertise lots of churchy things there and the horrible council man can’t stop us like he did when we tried to advertise our summer fair.  I had a bit of a lay in this morning because I was a little later going to bed last night. We went to Nix’s home group and didn’t get home until about 10 o’clock which is very late for me. I was still asleep when Nix woke up this morning, and that’s a first 🙂 We had a beach walk first of all  which was very nice but a bit too warm for me. I preferred it this afternoon when we drove over to Brooklands Park. We went on the opposite side to normal where they have this amazing cycle way. it’s called Cycall and it’s an inclusive cycling project which provides adapted cycling and outdoor games  for children & adults.  I have to be a bit careful not to go on the track because they have right of way and I might get run over by one of the bicycles.  We had a meander into town this afternoon and had a quick nose round the churchyard. We’ve had a beach day today. It’s very hot but there is a lovely breeze on the beach so I can keep nice and cool. I found an old cuttlefish in the sea which I have brought home and I am now resting in the garden. Nix has washed my bed that I sleep in overnight. It’s right next to her bed and she said it was just a wee bit smelly. I think that’s very rude, it’s not my fault is it if she’s too lazy to take me out at midnight.  I can make myself just as comfortable in the smaller bed but Nix says my usual bed will be dry for tonight as it’s hanging in the sunshine. We have home group to go to tonight. It might be our last one because they finish now until September and we don’t really want to go out at night in the winter. Maybe when Nix’s eyes have been fixed she might change her mind but it’s always difficult in the rain etc when you’re going to someone else’s house.  Nix has been gardening this afternoon but it’s a bit too hot I think.  First of all Nix got a message from Facebook to say that someone had tried to change her password. They didn’t succeed but please be aware if you get anything weird from her…weirder than normal that is🤣 Also she gets lots of friend requests so from now on unless they come with a message she won’t be accepting them, too many weird people out there.  So today has been interesting to say the least. We were walking through the little wood earlier and there were a group of lads sitting down with their bikes next to them listening to music. They seemed harmless enough even though their taste in music was questionable so Nix was quite surprised when this awful man came up to them and started screaming abuse. He was telling them to eff off and get out of the woods. He kept calling them a bunch of fag**ts and screaming at them. Now bearing in mind that Nix spends most of our time in the wood looking over her shoulder for bogey men I was quite surprised when she challenged this bloke....

 Well, it has been quite an eventful day because when Nix put the car on the drive she forgot to put the handbrake on. We came inside and about 10 minutes later the doorbell went, and she looked through the window to see a man standing there waving at her. She then noticed that her car wasn’t there, it was on the other side of the road on the pavement! Apparently it only just missed a collision with a Tesco van.  Nix has been doing more clearing out. This time it’s been a whole new set of files. There were five Fripp files altogether. There’s one for my blood test results and one for my insurance and others for various hospital visits. She was looking at the one from North Downs where I had my bypass done. The bill altogether came to over £14.000 and one of the invoices is five pages long. She’s keeping all the Fripp files but she’s actually filled up the recycling bin with all the waste paper, this time it’s mainly her old bank statements which go back decades. At this rate w...

 We went to church of course this morning and that was very good. We sit on the back row as there is a bit more room for my bed. We used to sit there on our own but now we have lots of friends who sit with us. There’s Liz and  Kaye, Janet and sometimes John and this morning we had Doris too. I think it’s becoming quite a popular row but I expect that’s because they all want to sit with me. Nix  of course thinks they all want to sit with her 🤣🤣🤣🙂 We had coffee afterwards and I basically slept through everything.  Nix is still on a mission to clear out stuff and today it was the filing drawer. She had electricity bills that went back to 2010, so I’m pleased to say they’ve all gone into the recycling bin. She probably shouldn’t have looked at how much she was paying back in those days because we won’t hear the end of that now. She has sold lots of stuff and is putting the money towards getting the wall knocked down.  Speaking of building works we have an attac...
