Just One Of Those Days…

 


Nix and I have just had fish and chips as a treat. I had chips as well as fish because Nix said just the one time wouldn’t hurt especially as I seem to get away with eating a lot of rubbish on the beach. 



Nix said she needed cheering up as the last couple of days have been one thing after another. First of all my new insurance quote came in for the next year and Nix nearly had a heart attack. She is already paying £160 a month and it’s gone up to £200 🫢 Good job we got the fish and chips while we can still afford them! Next thing the house insurance renewal came in and for some bizarre reason it had doubled! She’s on one of those comparison thingies as we speak trying to find something cheaper. She was just about coping with everything when her diary reminded her that the car’s MOT is due next week!




I think the fish and chips would have sufficed but at the end of the service this morning in church there was an announcement that our lovely Rev Andrew is leaving us in a month or so. He’s going up to Manchester to be a hospital chaplain which he will be very good at but we shall miss him. It really was the final straw for Nix so she’s now got two bags of Cadbury’s Chocolate Caramel Nibbles to cheer herself up. We are very blessed to still have Rev Jane and a host of others to take care of our spiritual and social needs. 



We’ve just had a wander along the beach but Sundays are always weird, lots of people and dogs we’ve never met before. I think we are very blessed to live here because everyone is so friendly…the visitors, sometimes not so much 🤔

Too Much Noisy Rain

 Last night it started to rain, a lot, and as you know I do not like it when it rains, it scares me. I don’t mind it when I’m out on my walk as you can see from my photos but I don’t like it when I’m inside. I just couldn’t help myself, I had to get off the bed and start digging. Nix was very understanding for once but she does try to get me back on the bed. In the end I gave up and got on the bed and was just drifting off when there was this really loud scary noise. Nix said it sounded like a very loud demented dalek whatever that is...it was very scary and made me and Nix really jump. Turned out to be something to do with her phone and the battery going...is it too much to ask that she keep a check on these things, nearly gave me a heart attack.  It hasn’t stopped raining all day so there are only photos of me wet. I didn’t stay wet for long, I blotted myself off on the sofa first and then Nix’s bed. She thought there were towels on it but I’d dug them all up. The best news today is

Big Boats and Little Dogs

 There was a very big boat making a lot of noise when we got to the beach this morning. Nix thought that it was very interesting, me not so much. I suppose it shows just how boring Nix’s life really is.  We went down the river this afternoon. You know how Nix has always been scared of going over the bridge over the busy road. Well now she’s decided she doesn’t like going under the busy road either. I think the lockdown thingy has finally done it’s worst. She says it’s worse coming back because she can see it in the distance and knows she’s got to go under it eventually. I like it under there, it’s really noisy and you can hear the lorries above you racing along.  I like to think I took her mind off going under the bridge by perfecting another one of my annoying habits. I like to walk right behind her and when she looks over her right shoulder to make sure I’m still there I overtake her on the left.
