The Shingle is on the Move…

Nix thought I was going to the groomers this morning so I got groomed within an inch of my life last night and then she remembered it was only Wednesday and I’m not due for my groom until tomorrow 🤣 I suppose I’ll have to go through it all again tonight as I have been a bit off piste today and gathered quite a bit of undergrowth!

This morning we went up to the fort to take a last look at all the shingle (pebbles) which piles up next to the harbour arm. On Monday the shingle shifters will arrive and they will transport it all to the other side of the arm. This is because the sea brings the shingle eastwards and it protects our beaches but when it gets stuck at the harbour arm it means all the beaches to the east of us don’t have any shingle and that puts the beach at risk of erosion. So… they will start piling it up onto lorries and they will take it by road to the eastern side of the arm and deposit it on the beach there. This will it means it will all be fenced off for the next few weeks while they do it and the big lorries do make a mess of the beach but it soon goes back to normal.

The weather people keep on saying we are going to get a lot of rain but we haven’t really so far. Today we went to Buckingham park and it was only as we got home that it started to spot a little but then it stopped. We’re hoping it’s not going to rain on Saturday because we’re going to the vigil for peace for Gaza and Israel which will be held in the churchyard of St Mary de Haura. If it does rain we will go into the church but it would be nice to do it in the churchyard where members of the public who wouldn’t normally come to church might like to join us.
