13th Anniversary Of Billy Beardie Travelling To The Bridge π
Can I just say that I have absolutely no idea why the smart meter read nearly £3 this morning when normally it would only be 90p. Nix seems to think it’s something to do with having the door wide open all night but I don’t see it myself as I was very snug in my bed in front of the open door. It wasn’t as cold as Nix will try to make out apart from the boardwalk which to be fair was a bit icy. Anyway we only have one more night of it being a tad chilly and then we’re back to summer again ππ
Today we have been to Hove Park to celebrate the life of Billy, Nix’s last Beardie. It’s 13 years today since he went to the rainbow bridge and he used to love Hove Park. He was already quite old when Nix moved from London to Hove so he didn’t get to see quite so much of the local scenery. I think Nix did take him to Devil‘s Dyke once but he couldn’t really walk very far. When Nix took me to Devils Dyke for the first time I followed a family right down to the bottom of the Dyke and Nix followed me. When she tried to get back up to the top, she didn’t think she’d ever be able to manage it. She had visions of an air ambulance having to collect her because it was so steep. She did get to the top but trust me, it took a long time and she swore never ever to go down a hill like that ever again.
Nix will add some photos of Billy, for some reason he got a professional photo shoot which I’ve never had. Nix said it was because she wrote an article about her fight with the vets about getting him diagnosed with autoimmune disease and it got printed in Dogs Today magazine. They sent a photographer and Billy and Nix were able to pose and get their pictures taken together. I’d like to do that with Nix one day maybe.
She also found an old video of him getting in their fish pond. It’s not very good quality but his descent into the pond is impressive for an old boy. He used to do that after every afternoon walk apparently…I think we’d have got on π
