Storm Ashley Today…



 Well we’ve had a very wet and windy day today thanks to storm Ashley but not as bad as those up north. We hope and pray that everyone up there stays safe.  When we went out first thing the rain had stopped for a while so we didn’t get too wet. I only had a short nap before we set out for church. Nix was on welcoming duty and that means we have to get there quite a bit it earlier than normal. I generally get straight in my bed and go to sleep. When Nix is on welcoming she has to get up quite a few times to take the collection and to show people up for communion. Rita came and sat with so, I wasn’t on my own but I think Nix might have attached my long lead to the pew leg just to be certain I didn’t follow her up the aisle. 



When we were having coffee afterwards I made everyone laugh because I stuck my head through the handles of Kay’s handbag and it looked like I’d got right inside her bag. It made her granddaughter laugh a lot. I got some ginger biscuit which was very nice. 




We hadn’t been home long when I wanted to go out again. I had been asleep for a long time in church and so I think I deserved a walk into town. Thankfully it had stopped raining and we didn’t get too wet. It was very windy though and I didn’t really enjoy the walk and I do sometimes put the brakes on and Nix has to bribe me with treats. 



Tomorrow we are getting a visit from Tracy so I am looking forward to that. We are also getting a visit from the Sky engineer to get rid of the subtitles on our telly. Every time Nix changes channel they come back on and I think she will be very glad to see the back of them. 



Guess what, last night Nix’s vaccination site didn’t hurt at all to keep her awake and her arm wasn’t itching and keeping her awake either. Pity I woke her up at 5am so I could go out and stargaze. Beardies take note if you are planning the same trick then you have at least once a week actually have a pee otherwise the humans don’t let you out. 


PS There is a big white paper dove arrived in church…

 We’ve not done a lot today. Nix has been dozing off at various times and to be honest, I’ve been asleep too. It’s quite nice actually not having anything to do. Nix has been working on the church log book so there was lots of tutting, mainly because she couldn’t remember where she’d put anything. Just in case you were wondering, the log book is an account of everything that is added to the church or taken away or repaired. Eventually Nix will fill in the actual document with special ink that doesn’t fade so it will be there for future generations to read.  We did go to the Rec this afternoon as I did need a little walk but we didn’t stay too long, it was very cold. It was also very muddy but not to worry, most of it will fall off tomorrow in time for my birthday 🙂 Speaking of my birthday, I have received quite a lot of presents and cards which is very exciting. My name is Fripp aka The Fripster, I am a Bearded Collie and I came to live with Nix when I was two years old.  I spent the first two years of my life living in Monaco but my owners couldn’t keep me because they were working long hours. Even though Nix lives in the UK she saw me and wanted me, naturally, and so my breeder brought me to the UK when she was visiting Crufts. Nix says she had no idea what she was letting herself in for and if I hadn’t come all the way from France she’d have sent me straight back the next day. RIP Fripp 5.1.2010 - 8.2.25 😪

  RIP Fripp 5.1.2010 - 8.2.25 My darling Fripp has crossed the bridge 😪 He passed very peacefully this afternoon in a lovely special room with a bed for him and a sofa for me. I am okay, I think, and I know time will heal.  A little bit about my gorgeous boy…he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease when he was 7. He did really well on his home cooked diet but when he was eight he developed autoimmune thrombocytopenia due to some meds he was given…not by Bron. He went on a high dose of steroids, lost a lot of his coat with his gorgeous tail being almost bald. He survived the disease and went on to become strong but always with the kidney disease in the background.  Some months later he got sick again and went into kidney failure. He spent a week at North Downs Referrals where they discovered his ureter was blocked with a stone and so he received a subcutaneous ureteral bypass from his kidney to his bladder.
