Ten Years Ago Today, Nix Saw Me For the First Time šŸ„°

 



Ten years ago today Nix received a message from Liz Jay telling her about moi. I was born in France and so the request was in French. Nix used her schoolgirl French to translate and even though she was useless she could see I was looking for a homeā€¦she typically didnā€™t of course see the ā€˜translateā€™ button at the bottom šŸ™„ She says she fell in love with me as soon as she saw meā€¦naturellement šŸ™„ Apparently I looked just like BIlly her previous Beardie who had gone to the Bridge a couple of months earlier. She got in touch with my breeder and said if I was in the UK she would take me in a heartbeat. My breeder said she was going to the UK in a few weeks for Crufts and she could  bring me over.  Nix agreed and the rest is history šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ I did of course try to kill the cat on the first night and Nix has always said if I hadnā€™t come all the way from France sheā€™d have sent me straight back again šŸ¤£


Sadly Fakir and Fred my brothers went to the bridge far too early and I am very sad about that and sad for Christine and Iain their humans. Nix tells me Iā€™ve been close a couple of times and Iā€™m lucky to still be here. She says however long we are here on earth us Beardies are always a joy. 




We havenā€™t done much today, a wander down the beach at low tide, a quick look at the Artisansā€™ market and a spot of squirrel watching in the churchyard plus investigation of an old tree trunk. 




We are home now and I am resting mainly whilst keeping an eye on the blog šŸ™„

So we had a very exciting morning at churchā€¦actually Nix did, I was asleep for most of it. Nix and the other churchwarden Kay were able to announce to the church that they have a new vicar. They have been unable to tell anyone about it until certain checks had been done so itā€™s been quite difficult for them. Now everyone knows and we are all looking forward to Rev Dominic Fenton coming to join us. He had to tell his church this morning that he would be leaving so that wouldā€™ve been quite difficult for him I should imagine. I had my photo taken with Nicky and Donald after the service, they brought me biscuits šŸ˜‹ We have a carol service this evening so weā€™ll be going back just after 5 oā€™clock as weā€™re on welcoming duty. Nix has got some fairy lights to wear around her neck but sheā€™s not sure what the rules are in the Church of England. Everything You Wanted to Know About Fripp

My name is Fripp aka The Fripster, I am a Bearded Collie and I came to live with Nix when I was two years old.  I spent the first two years of my life living in Monaco but my owners couldnā€™t keep me because they were working long hours. Even though Nix lives in the UK she saw me and wanted me, naturally, and so my breeder brought me to the UK when she was visiting Crufts. Nix says she had no idea what she was letting herself in for and if I hadnā€™t come all the way from France sheā€™d have sent me straight back the next day. She said I was completely untrained, tried to kill the cat and had separation anxiety so bad I would knock her over rather than let her get to the front door. RIP Fripp 5.1.2010 - 8.2.25 šŸ˜Ŗ

  RIP Fripp 5.1.2010 - 8.2.25 My darling Fripp has crossed the bridge šŸ˜Ŗ He passed very peacefully this afternoon in a lovely special room with a bed for him and a sofa for me. I am okay, I think, and I know time will heal.  A little bit about my gorgeous boyā€¦he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease when he was 7. He did really well on his home cooked diet but when he was eight he developed autoimmune thrombocytopenia due to some meds he was givenā€¦not by Bron. He went on a high dose of steroids, lost a lot of his coat with his gorgeous tail being almost bald. He survived the disease and went on to become strong but always with the kidney disease in the background.  Some months later he got sick again and went into kidney failure. He spent a week at North Downs Referrals where they discovered his ureter was blocked with a stone and so he received a subcutaneous ureteral bypass from his kidney to his bladder.
